What a great build. I'll be keeping tabs on this. I just replaced my trusty Xterra with a 2014 Tundra. I have ADS suspension on the way, Dakar leaf pack and airbags sitting in the garage, and a set of new wheels with Ridge Grapples waiting patiently in the basement. I sure live this truck. Never thought I'd move up to a full size rig, but it's been a great decision.

@Keith McAlister they are on the driver side and unfortunately with the set up we were going for and how we wanted it laid out it was the only place for them, you can feel it slightly in the corners. I just order a set of triple bellow air bags from boss suspension so I should be able to correct some of the lean with that set up.

The boxes are just a generic marine grade not the national Luna boxes.

@trikebubble very nice! The suspension and tires change the entire stance and look of the tundra. Stock they sit a little nose heavy for me! Good luck on the build!

I have not been able to justify it yet, With the stock tank being 38 gallons now I can carry a Jerry can for $75 and be close to the 46 Gallon limit of the Larger tank. However with now getting around 12 MPG I may rethink that after a few trips with all this extra gear on the truck.

I'm hoping it will go up slightly once I re gear with 4.88 but as soon I put the lift on the truck with the 35s it dropped down.

lol I have not seen 15mpg on my dash since I pulled it off the Toyota lot.

Killer rig. I love all of the upgrades. Too bad we don't get the diesel in the USA that Toyota puts into the Australian Land Cruisers.

Okay so your not far off the 36 Gallon tank that's in my Ford has then but I cant believe your only getting 12mpg I'm still getting like 15 with 37's
On of the Tundra's downside is fuel mileage. My truck is about 4 months old and sits as the factory built it but the best I can do is 14.5 mpg. I'm expecting that number to decline as I start making mods. At the moment it is a daily driver but I'm considering picking up a commuter car just for the daily stuff. I saw a company that makes a 57 gal. fuel cell and depending on what I do to the rig, that is an option but it is also more weight too.

That would be a pretty substantial weight gain there...if you go that route you will definitely need a different leaf pack and potentially a 2" shackle or air bags.....think of the range though??? Definitely worth a thought!

It is but I also wonder if an off road trailer with weight shifted onto it, including extra fuel, might be a better fit? Pros & cons both ways and I've thrown them around myself. I admit that I'm leaning in that direction too but I don't argue there is an exact one size fits all. Because there isn't.

We bought the Tundra but then realized our plans for it would limit the utility use of the truck. My wife noted the limits for her of making runs to the garden supply or my own runs for wood and material for projects. So for Mother's Day I bought my wife a 96' extended cab Ford F150 4x4 (what every mother needs and she loved it to) just for that kind of use. Being red she named it Clifford after the Big Red Dog and now we have a truck for utility purposes as well as a kind of 3rd vehicle should it be needed.

Great point. Honestly if the tundra was our daily driver it would not be practical. We are fortunate enough That my wife drives a 4Runner as her daily and I have a GMC Canyon (company car) .

We actually went the route of a trailer not long ago and bout a M103A3 through gov planet. We drew up all the plans and started ordering parts and one day my wife and I sat down and decided the places we want to go a trailer is not the right for for us and we decided to go forward with this latest phase on the truck. Like you said though every one has different adventures in mind and one path is not the right for another.
