We recently had the opportunity to spend a little quality time with a customer’s new 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road. We began by adding a REDARC SBI-12D Dual Sense Dual Battery system manager with two new Odyssey performance AGM batteries and a superb auxiliary battery tray from Off-Grid 4×4. We then ran power to an auxiliary fuse block in the bed, connected a solar charge controller for new Flexopower Atacama 79W flexible solar panels, and added in some Blue Sea high-output USB charging ports as well as dedicated power for a new 50-quart ARB fridge-freezer.

Billet aluminum auxiliary battery tray

Installed with Blue Sea 100-amp breakers. The proper way to install a dual battery system.

Once all the wiring was installed and tested we moved on to the more fun stuff – a full Alu-Cab outfitting including:

Alu-Cab Explorer Canopy with cupboards

Alu-Cab Gen 3 Expedition Rooftop Tent

Alu-Cab Shadow 270 Awning

Brackets for mounting awning to tent.

Alu-Cab Drawer System

Alu-Cab Aluminum Table with canopy mounts (coming soon to the store)

Mounted under Explorer Canopy roof

Alu-Cab Tilt-down Fridge Slide (coming soon to the store)

Mounted on Alu-Cab drawer system for Toyota Tacoma

Before leaving the customer also picked up a Delorme inReach SE satellite communication device and powered RAM mount to keep in touch during a long trip down to South America this winter. Everything turned out great and we had a happy customer. We continue to be very impressed with the overall build quality and ruggedness of the new Alu-Cab gear and looking forward to a lot more Alu-Cab love at the shop.

Paid a visit to Adventure Ready on Saturday. Kid in a candy store. Great equipment selection. Tom answered all of my questions. I have a 2018 Tacoma O/R with just 1k miles on it. Starting the build with the electrical system. Dual battery, Redarc charger, and S-Pod SE going to be installed in a couple weeks. Looking forward to some new adventures for sure.
