I purchased a used 2013 FJ in January 2016 to take trips from Virginia with my son (he has a Tacoma). First to Colorado (Ouray/Silverton) & Moab, then back to Ouray in 2017 then down through Texas/Big Bend then through NOLA. Last year, after the first trip (and no trail damage), it was hit by a tree in my driveway during a hurricane. It has become an addicting hobby.

First, added an Icon Stage 2 suspension followed by Demello bumper and RCI sliders and skids. I'm up to about 20 mods so far including the ARB scuba kit, winch, and awning. (I track my mods in an app I'm developing. It should release in November.)

Nice Build! I really like the Front Runner rack. Do you recommend the water tank? Any other accessories you really like as a must have? I just installed the roof rack in January.

Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk
Definitely like the water tank. With the fj our space is a premium lol. So anything that is no too too heavy in trying to mount to the rack to keep the inside clean. Its BPA free so it can hold drinking water. Just make sure to order the premium hose kit with it!

Front front to rear the rack is perfectly sized to mount an rtt and then one row of boxes behind. Like the water tank, Jerry cans or wolf packs.

So far I love it! It was a bit of heartburn getting the rack but it was well worth it after using it.

Thanks. On my last trip (Smoky Mountain Overland Rally) I took two 5 gallon water Jerry cans and had them inside to vehicle along with 5 Plano boxes - everything I needed to camp for 3 days . Off road, everything shifts and having the water cans inside was not ideal. The tank and the accessories are expensive and the rack itself was a splurge. My wife got paddle boards which was the perfect excuse to upgrade from the stock roof rack.

Big fan of the Desert Sand! At the dealer I had the choice between the Sand and the Sunfusion.. I really wanted the Sand but it had 75k more miles and a very neglected interior..

I have been busy working on Auto ModList. Just added the ability to track mod weight, added QR codes to use at car shows, wave/upvote mods, support for Androind 10 and iOS 13 Dark Mode/Theme, and more. The latest version is available on the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android. (links at Auto ModList Vehicle Build Page)

Dude, I love the idea of the app. I have been using an excel spreadsheet to track my FJ mods, but this is by far an improvement. I'll have to start a build thread this evening.

I followed your 2014 FJ in the Auto ModList app and gave your Rock Sliders mod a wave. Nice FJ!

You may also enjoy following the app on Instagram (or Facebook) at Auto ModList (@automodlist) • Instagram photos and videos where we post featured build threads and related content. (You can update your automodlist profile with a picture and also add your Instagram account, share your build web page link in your profiles, share your build thread QR code in person with someone at a car / off-road event, and add mod photos, etc.)

I recently added the ability to track vehicle maintenance in the @automodlist app in addition to mods. Check it out.
