Having a open bed is great for tossing stuff in but here in the pnw fall - spring means rather wet days , was thinking about a soft roll up tonneau but my dad had a canopy off his old Silverado sitting in the back yard so I “ borrowed” it . Only problem being it was 8” to long so I chopped 4” off the front and back and reassembled it with lots of extra sealant . It’s not perfect but keeps the water out and will make a nice warm snow sleeper . View attachment 179585View attachment 179586View attachment 179587View attachment 179588

I do like a truck. And I do like and SUV wagon like the Blazer and Suburban or 80's Broncos. These truck cap, canopy campers make the truck so much more versatile and secure.

What did you secure the ends back onto the main canopy with?

Same way it’s made from the manufacture it has a rubber covered metal strip that gets a bunch of screws threw it then another rubber strip that covers the screws .

Mine came with the soft tonneau cover. I liked it, but it wasn't secure at all. I took it off and put in a diamond deck cross box. I liked that too. Then I was planning a drive from New England to Montana and thought I'd sleep in the back. So I got a black leer cap for it on Craigslist. It's not the correct year but with enough weather stripping I got it on nice and no leaks. Looks like yours will be good and solid. Aluminum

Needed to do a little maintenance and get rid of the growl from the front end . First time using mevotec bearings so let’s hope the quality is good . Thankfully it came with new bolts because I stripped one and had to cut the head off . View attachment 179629

Finally got my check engine light off turned out to be a cheap fix and a common issue on gm trucks . View attachment 181708
Went up to the mountain to try out my Christmas presents a DSLR , still learning how to use it and all it’s features . View attachment 181709View attachment 181710View attachment 181711View attachment 181712View attachment 181714
drove around a bit with the little one found a decent hill for sledding and had a easy lunch of hotdogs over a campfire . Fixing the valve upped my mpg by 3 so that’s always a good thing .

Those vent valves are super common. Water intrusion seems to be the culprit. Gm put out a TSB for an updated part and relocation kit for the 07-13 GMT900's, but to my knowledge there's no fix for your NBS.

on the my series the tsb has dust infiltration as the main culprit, you would think at some point thewould get it right .

Found my inexpensive camp lighting solution , found this little LED lantern at grocery outlet for 6$ and it comes with batteries . 4 of these will give more than enough light for my needs and if they break oh well they where only 6$ . Gives off enough light to see in the garage View attachment 181821View attachment 181822View attachment 181823

Went through and reorganized my travel gear a little better under the back seats and behind them I have tucked in
Air compressor
2 yank straps and all the supporting pulling gear
Tools
Small camp stove
Food
Winter warm gear
Saw
Machete
Ax
Water
Fluids
Electrical repair kit
Tarp
Paracord
Tire repair kits
And other odds and ends .

still have a little better organizing to do but it all fits in and doesn’t move around or rattle so I’m happy for now View attachment 182013View attachment 182014

So far really impressed with them , they balanced easy , fairly quiet , seem to work very well in the snow so far . I took a 3mpg hit but will be swapping to 4.10 gears eventually so it should go back up a bit
Something interesting coming down the pike:
