What level of 1st aid training does everyone have for out on the trail.
Given some trips are in remote, cell free areas, I'm looking at kiting out both the rig and the family with decent 1st aid capability.
I'm 1st aid at work trained and we carry the basics, but I'm thinking we need to go to the next level, or better.

I have a good assortment of first aid kits accessible in the rig (small to large). But knowing how to use them past the simple scrapes and cuts is where many get a little nervous (myself included). I have had military first responder training about 1oo years ago it seems. That covered everything from lost limbs, sucking chest wounds, etc. More recently, I have had CPR and AED training through work. I have found that like many things in life, if you don't use it, you lose it. So I've tried to augment what I already know by keeping a few books and apps available for things that exceed my immediate knowledge or memory. I try to read/review a few sections at a time each trip out because I know it's going to be a tall order to try to find and read the section you need in an actual emergency. But at the end of the day, I'd rather have it to reference than guess. All this until I can get my job to pay for my Wilderness First Responder training and let me be away for 2 weeks to complete it. Yes, I can dream.

I'm CPR and CERT trained, plus I've worked and played outside my whole life. 99% of the time the only thing I've needed in a kit was Ibuprofen, Neosporin, Visine, and electrical tape.
