10,000 OB Members Approaching?

I've only been a member of this great community for just over a year, but I still feel just as welcome today as I did when I joined in 2016!

Keep up the great work and Overland Bound will become even bigger in 2018!

Correct. That is the total number of badge-holding members that have registered on the forum, have entered their badge number, and have had their account upgraded to show the Member banner. There could be hundreds more badge-holding members who have not done this, and of course, there are thousands of badge-holding members who are not on the forum at all, instead, following on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube.

Aaaah! Got it. The next logical question would have been the discrepancy in the main page count. Thanks for the explanation Steve.

Yes not all members join the forums right away, sometimes not at all. The welcome email you received is quite different and much more streamlined than what existed before. But some members just don’t really use the world of forums but want to be a member and watch on Facebook or YouTube. Sometimes the forums strike their fancy one day and they join in!

Which is too bad, really. I understand forums aren't everyone's cup of tea, and people have to be a part of the community in their own way, but I think this is where the sense of community is strongest. I lurked in the forums as an unregistered visitor for a couple of months, just to kind of get the lay of the land, so to speak. What I saw here, the information being shared, the way people interact, is what convinced me to become a member.
