There she is pretty much as Ford intended her to be. The Leer 100XQ was added for bike camping, but now I caught the Overlanding bug. I always wanted to go to Alaska and to drive down to Brazil. She is a 6.4 Powerstroke Diesel that just now after 116000 miles started to leak coolant. (Common on the 6.4). So its the typical while I'm in there list.
New Mishimoto radiator and hoses.
Thermostats
Power Steering Pump
Water Pump
200 amp alt.
all new idlers & pulleys & Gates Green Stripe belts
2 new Northstar AGM batteries.
Trans filter & flush.

The rear differential is limited slip, I will install a Detroit Locker when I return from Expo West.

I do not intend on going crazy with this build as it is my opinion that she has too much electronics to go too far south of the border. Not to mention she requires ULSD. I have much more confidence in my daily driver which is a 1985 W123 Diesel with over 200K. The Super Duty just happens to be a "run what you brung" project.

I would like to get a roof top tent on her. (on the leer if possible)

Awesome truck! I had the same one in black before I went to my F150.

I had 2 coolers replaced under warranty, like you said it’s super common.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the cap won’t hold a roof top tent, most wont without a secondary reinforcement system.

I want to hit Alaska too!

The cap unfortunately was bought for another purpose. Depending how I end up outfitting the bed for storage and Kitchen etc. I may make a skeleton to support it. Or just bite the bullet and sell it, instead of forever working around it. Got started on her today. FontEndB.jpg

Back from Overland Expo 2018 West. Everything held up well. 18 Days 20 Hours 28 Minutes 45 Seconds with a Max Elevation of 14193. 6150 miles. and only 3 stops at a hotel. (Info from Garmin Inreach) Need tires, I am considering BFG KO2 for the one and only reason "Snow" I live on the east coast and am planning to hitting Alaska next year. Otherwise I think I would go with the BFG KM3. I am planing on mounting the new tires on the Hutchison Rock Monster beadlock rims. I am tired of the factory rims looks. I really like the Rock Monster Wheel as far as looks. and as far as airing down very low on a very heavy rig I have with no expereice at all come to the conclusion the Hutchison bead lock with the center piece will keep the rim from spinning on the tire. I will also try some sort of dynamic balancing system. (No weightson the wheels.) Any input on my tire and or wheel selection is welcome. Rig is not a daily driver.FreedomPass18.jpg

While out and about on my 18 day trip to see which way to go with this project. I did not like sleeping in the bed and not being able to get to the drivers seat without having to egress from the tailgate and come around to the front door. So I decided to remove the factory power slider on the cab and the slider on the Leer cap. I installed an accordion seal which so far is not leaking. The rear slider is urethaned in, so i had to remove a lot of interior trim to cut the glass out. In doing so I also decided to remove the 60 from the 60/40 split rear bench seat and seat belts. When I was out and about and stopping here and there at interesting sites, I found that I liked to change my shoes and or shirts depending what my unplanned stops called for. So having the extra room right behind the drivers seat will be great. I also liked keeping my maps, binoculars, and hiking packs/supplies right there. I have a cooler that I put there for non camping food/snacks. I may put a fridge there once I install a larger fuel tank. Right now I have to stop so often the ice barely melts between fuel stops.pwrslide.jpg
