This is a short notice trip but Wednesday, my son and I are heading to Pine Creek area. Any recommendations on what to see and where to wheel (mild off-roading only as I have a slightly lifted Subaru Outback with AT tires and skid plates)?
I wasn't able to find much here on Pine Creek. I do...
An update: We spend one full day driving thru Loyalsock State Forest. Most of the trails were just easy forest roads. We still had fun exploring and sightseeing. But at the end of the day, we found a road that was just an icing on the cake - Loyalsock Rd leading to a vista view. Not sure if this...
Thanks again. We did the Henstep in BESF and it was fun but not challenging even for the Outback. Only on one other road we had to build a ramp from rocks as the drop was big enough that it would take the bumper off.
For Loyalsock, I guess I will plan the route around the sight seeing spots.
Thanks @DevilDodge. Do you know if there are any more advanced off-road trails in the park? Looking at all the info, it seems that all are fire roads that can be accessed pretty much by any car.
I am planning on spending three days near Williamsport and would like to go on a two full day excursions in Loyalsock State Forest. I got the Purple Lizard maps and I am reading/watching stuff available on the internet but I would like to get some recommendations for a day trips from the forum...
Thanks guys for the information. We did go to the BESF and spend Saturday wheeling thru the forest. At first, I started with some gravel roads but having two teenagers in the car, I quickly heard: "We should do the roads they told us to stay away from.". Well, we did. Henstep had a lot of water...
This weekend I am heading out from NJ to PA and would like to spend Saturday driving thru Bald Eagle State Forest. Need recommendations for fairly mild roads that are Subaru friendly (AT tires, 1.5" lift, skid plates and that's about it). Not looking for any rock crawling or deep water passings...
I have already reserved the campground in Rumney for the whole stay. It will be our base.
So far, I created a list of things to see, hikes and other attractions. But those are the ones you find in every NH travel guide. I would love to see other less known places.
I went thru a portion of MRP once and saw some of the camping sites. There was one right by the stream which looked like a good place to fish. Unfortunately, I didn't record the GPS coordinates plus I assume that it is very popular spot so not sure of its availability as I think most of the...
I will send you PM regarding the GPX. Thanks.
In Adirondacks we are staying at a campground in North Hudson. From there we are going to explore Indian Lake, Inlet and surrounding areas. I have been there couple of times so I know good places for hiking, fishing, etc. Not sure if there are much...
Yes, the trip is still on. We are leaving NJ on the 13th. I got reservations at Baker River Campground in Rumney, NH. I have picked a campground with some amenities as we are going to be staying there till the 18th. Then we will head to Adirondacks for 3 days on the way back home.
Any good off...
So it was decided that my kids and I will be heading to White Mountains, NH in August. I would like to setup base at a campground and then from there do daily trips to explore some fire roads and remote locations. With that, I am looking for campground recommendations in or around White...
Thanks DevilDodge. This is exactly what I am looking for. Myself, I would go to BESP but when I gave my kids an option (PA, NJ or NH) they picked New Hampshire. I am still in a planning stage so nothing is decided for sure yet. There are actually two trips planned for August so we may end up...
Thanks. I will check those campsites and area you recommended. Is there any elevation or mostly flat terrain?
I used to live next town over in Leonia. Now moved further up north/west but still in NJ.
This summer, I would like to take two of my teenage sons on a mild off-roading trip that will last about 5 days. I have looked at the Trans New Hampshire Route, Trans NJ Trail and some trails in the Bald Eagle State Park. Any of those sound like a fun adventure but I think ultimately, I would...
Few months ago I have purchased a 2003 Sequoia that spent its entire life in the rust belt. The frame was replaced by Toyota under the recall but everything else is pretty much stock (read: rusted) unless was replaced due to the failure. If you stick with a northeast car, be prepared to invest...
Hi. Alex from NJ here. Just signed up. Interested in learning more about overlanding. Currently own 2003 Toyota Sequoia which I am going to turn into a very mild camping/fishing/exploring rig. I have been camping for years but no real overlanding experience.
