I think that the duration has been the limitation to
a broader use. With the lack of igates in the gmrs reaperter system it can not work as well as the Ham version but it would be useful on the trail.
I think the new uv5r does not transmit in the gmrs frequencies but they do sell one that is gmrs specific that looks identical to the uv5r sorry don't know the model number but I'm sure you can find it on Amazon
Nice rig, what did you replace it with?
I need some advice from someone who has used KDSS. How did it perform? Was it worth the cost of the option upgrade?
Thanks, David
I broke my fly rod catching that one. I've been keeping that location a secret for 25 years, maybe it's time I give it up and set up a rally point for the spring.
Thanks for all the great suggestions. I have owned a RAM mount before and was very happy with it. Has anyone used Mob Armor? They are used in side by sides , seems to be a really heavy duty iPad mount. I'll probably get a RAM. The hard part is finding a way to mount it so it doesn't bounce when...
Yes you're right, sorry about the confusing question I just got my ham license and I am not quit up to speed yet. I was hoping to get some feed back from someone who has used any of the suggested technologies in the Bishop area.
I want to communicate with home base in Modesto while traveling the Eastern Sierra. Any recommendations on how I can find a comprehensive list of internet connected repeaters on the eastern side?
I have GMRS, VHF and UHF. You can easily do it on the cheap and you have covered your bases. The downside is that you give up a day of your life for the license and that you will probably end up with a new addiction that involves spending lots of money on radios. Does anyone still use CB?
I need to mount an iPad, a cell phone and a Spot X. Any brand recommendations? I'm looking for a sturdy mount that can handle off road bumps and vibrations.
