What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

What size charger did you use for the house batteries?

    House Power

I use a redarc BCDC 50amp charger for my 200 ah lifepo4 battery. It has never caused an issue with the charging system, or the crank battery. The 50 amp may be overkill, but even from a flat battery a 4 or 5 hr trip caps it off.

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Front is. I think the rears are also, but they vary from year to year as a direct bolt on.

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Front-end components will swap with a same year f150. The rear end is different. You will have to be creative there.

    Western NC: Trail Status?

Once you turn off of hwy 19, most of the roads here could be classified as a moderate 6 to difficult. Not sure about the trails in this area, but I would try south of hwy 40. The areas here above 40 to tennessee are still in search and recovery mode.

    Overlanding for tough days

Update on the situ here in WNC; Used the rig to pull 9 vehicles 1 mile through a destroyed road. I'd give it a rating of 8. These were minivans, sprinters and the like. A church group from Raleigh were stuck at a Christian retreat with no power, water, little food. 2 women are very pregnant -...

    Overlanding for tough days

Agreed. Until the fuel station can't pump due to lack of power. Happening here, now. No power for 8 counties. We're on high ground, so no problem. I was happy with that until I was helping a neighbor in the next holler over dig his Tractor out after the hillside slid away taking 2 very large...

    Overlanding for tough days

Got it. Have a 2k inverter in the rig. Also, pulling the Jackery out has 110v. We've been putting it all to good use.

    Overlanding for tough days

I never thought of overlanding as preparation for a natural disaster, like what we are experiencing here in western NC. Yancey County has been hit pretty hard with a 29 inch rain fall in 30 hrs. We will be without power until "hopefully " mid October. Having the gear that many think is...

    Southeast Rally Point Ride

On here. We do a few others that are spur of the moment and probably too short notice to post. Drop a note if you're going to be in the area, and we'll try to organize something.

    Southeast Rally Point Ride

Always looking for rallys in the SE. I'll watch for any you might start! We do a good bit in NC, TN, KY areas. The outer banks is a favorite to get some surf fishing in (heading there very soon). My favorite area is Cumberland Gap /Daniel Boone NF in KY for amazing trails. We just completed...

Most Expensive Thing That You Have Broken

More recently, I had a trans "built" specifically for offroad abuse. I installed it, and a new Derale fan cooled trans cooler. Ran braided stainless lines and all. Put the AN-8 adapters in the trans and cracked the housing. Learned about tapered fittings that day. Ruined a $3500 trans. Had to...

Overall pre, mid and post trip inspections

Pre trip i always do about a week or so out, in case i need parts. The mid trip inspection is something I do every morning before hitting the trails. Found a CV going away just before leaving camp (2 weeks ago in Uhwarri) to hit some difficult rated trails. Would have been bad.
