    Here’s something new!

I need to figure out how that works. What I love about Earthmate (the map app that goes along with inReach) is that I can download all of OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, CO, AZ, UT, NM) only my 32GB iPad Mini. And when I want to view and area the zoom capability is extremely handy unlike things like Gaia...

    Here’s something new!

I just bought my wife the new mini for her birthday. Guess who gets the hand-me-down and for what purpose. I have the inReach mini and I like the fact that I can pair it with either the iPad or my iPhone. So when we are exploring by foot, all I need is the phone. In the vehicle, it...

Cool area. Did it in the opposite direction about 4 years ago. Started in Animas Forks and went up and over California Pass or whatever it is. Then down Corkscrew. Did they still have the outhouse at the top of the route? I had to laugh when I saw it but my wife thought it was great. ;-)

    Planning a trip to Moab

For those of you considering a trip this year, here are some thing to think about. April and May are extremely popular in Moab. In large part because it is cooler than the Summer months. But also because you have the Easter Jeep Safari and the first week of May is the Cruise Moab event for...

I definitely have some catching up to do. I'll post landscape scenery photos in the other "Nature" thread. For this I'll stick to pics of our rig(s) while out on a "drive". First, a few of our first rig. 2014 LR4.

Michael and Corrie in Denver, CO - 05/26/2018

Sorry, I am going to need to cancel. My wife reminded me of our granddaughter's birthday party. I had the time wrong. My bad. Would have loved to hear about Overland Expo. Maybe next time.

Interesting article regarding the 2018 Land Cruiser (or modern 4x4s in general)

So I have a 2016 Land Cruiser. Why? Well, its not for commuting and our kids are grown so I’m not shuffling them to school or whatever. Here is why it is absolutely the right vehicle for US. Reliability. It has to get us there and back. Long term reliability. This is where the cost...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Checked out Joshua Tree NP and upon exiting used the Geology Study 4x4 road. Sure glad I had E-rated KO2 tires on!

    Laptop Briefcase for Overlanding?

Thanks for the try! I’ll look into it in any “case” (pun intended). I’ve decided to go with the 5.11 Tactical Rush Delivery Lima bag but have the computer in a sleeve or hard case like you show. I’ll check out Booq

    Laptop Briefcase for Overlanding?

Thanks. I should have been more clear. By "protection" I simply meant a decent padded sleeve/compartment. But I don't need a hardside. I'm looking for a softside bag/brief that will hold my 15" MBP, power adapter, external battery, a couple connection cables, etc. Though its most important...

    Laptop Briefcase for Overlanding?

This may not be the best place for this post but I am about to pull the trigger on a 15” MacBook Pro and need a larger briefcase/bag for it. I’m looking for something more rugged, functional and durable with good protection. Not some for the office but some for camp, trailer or in the truck...

2018 - Overland apps for iOS

My two favorites are Earthmate (I have an inReach/Garmin GPS/satellite messaging unit) and for road trips, inRoute. Earthmate is great because you can download pretty much the whole Western US to use offline. Then it changes the amount of detail as you zoom in. Much easier to read than...

Air Lift Suspension on a 200-Series LC - Where to find an installer?

Interesting. Hadn't heard that. The guys I know who have them run them at 5 PSI when not towing. I'm not familiar with the jounce bumpers but I they must not be the bump stops as those are removed during install, right?

Thanks for the welcome, Everyone! I thought I would provide a few more pics and also what I have done to my Land Cruiser. Its a modest build but enough to get us where we need to go (Easy to moderate trails, forest roads, etc with a destination in mind. For us it is not about conquering the...

Air Lift Suspension on a 200-Series LC - Where to find an installer?

I just watched Michael's video on installing air helper bags into the suspension on his truck. I would love to do the same thing on my 2016 Land Cruiser which has a ~2" ARB/OME lift (taller springs, shocks, different UCA). I think I found the correct size Firestone air bags. The air bags...

Hello to the forum from Dan Higgins. I'm based in the Denver area. "Overlanding" (though I hadn't heard the term at the time) became an interest for me when I purchased a 2014 LR4 in May of 2014. A couple weeks later I headed out on my first road trip in a vehicle that could safely and...
