I installed an Expedition Essentials powered accessory mount in my 2019. You'll lose the clock on the dash but I never really used it anyway.

KDSS is another thing to consider. The Pro does not offer KDSS as an option. I have no experience with it but those who have it seem to be pretty happy with it.
I guess that would depend on whether you want to perform any upgrades after purchase. I went with the Pro simply because I had no plans to immediately upgrade suspension components or tires. I wanted something that I could drive off of the lot and head right to the trail. I also liked the...
I took these right outside of my house in Long Beach. It's been overcast here for days due to the smoke. I've never seen it this bad in all of the years that I've been living near the coast.
I sleep in the back of my 4Runner so I bought a set of these window sunshades that allow me to leave the back windows open for ventilation while also keeping the bugs out. Not sure what rig you're planning to sleep in so I'm not sure if these would work for you.
I'm a huge fan of my Frontrunner Expander chair. It's a bit pricey but it folds down to a 1/16th of it's open size making it a great option when you already have a bunch of other stuff to pack for your trip.
I just spent 3 days near White Mountain in a dispersed site and never thought twice about bears. I didn't even realize that there were still bears up there until I did some research upon my return. It seems that the bears are more likely to visit the spots where they know they can find food like...
I loaded up the truck for a 3 day trip to the mountains to escape this L.A. heat and humidity. Haven't been out since the end of last year so I am ready to go!!
I purposely drove my 4Runner down an overgrown trail up in Big Bear within the first 200 miles just to get the scratches over with. I knew it was going to happen so may as well pull that band-aid off quickly. It also helps to have a white vehicle.
They don't have a rubber seal so they're not going to be completely waterproof. The lids do overlap the body though so they could be left outside with little worry. They also have tie down points and holes for adding a lock.
I also use the Plano Sportsman trunks. They're relatively cheap and work well. But, and there's always a but, they are made out of cheap plastic so you may have an issue with off-gassing like I did with the last two I purchased just a few weeks ago. Horrible chemical smell that took multiple...
I replaced the stock battery in my 4Runner with an Odyssey 34R-PC1500T. It's a great battery but it required installing a voltage booster so that the stock alternator would put out enough voltage to properly charge it. I purchased one from ArcLight LED's but it's also possible to replace the...
I ended up going with the TRD Pro because it comes from the factory ready to go. My '19 came with Fox shocks with rear remote reservoirs, a 1" lift in the front, and decent off-road ready tires. I had no plans on immediately ripping the stock suspension out and replacing it so the Pro was what I...
I go out alone so I like having one as an extra viewpoint when having to back out of a predicament. Stopped me from hitting a rock that jumped out from behind a bush one time.
