I have the sport bumper right now, so I was thinking of going to the steel bumper and install a 12K winch behind it. I have the factory tow hooks, witch I have been told are pretty solid (????).
I have a 2017 Ram 1500, and I love look of it. I have no real desire to invest in an after market front bumper. That said I am not big into driving super aggressive trails though I want to be capable enough to safely go off road, as i will be doing several long trips all over the US next year.
I am planning a trip to see family and I thought I would attempt to make the most of it by doing it overland style. How do I find good routs? How do I know the Difficulty Level these roads / trails? This kinda Stuff is new to me....
1) As for adding an alternator to the truck. I wouldn't mine upgrading it to a 140ish amp, if its not there already.

Maybe... its a 2017 Ram 5.7... everything is electronically controlled. Even then I have to run wires down the truck frame, across the hitch gap and then to the trailer... That seems sketchy to me lol
Thats what I was thinking, he made it sound like there was a kit out there that regulated this. I, not knowing crap about overland trailers, figured he knew what he had it all figured out. Assumed the kit had some sort of digital regulator or some sort of transmission to it... lol
