You could try to find one of the new AWD Ford Mavericks. Even with non-hybrid engine and AWD, it's still rated for 22 city and 29 highway. Put a decent set of all terrain tires on it and you'll be able to go almost anywhere. 8.9" of ground clearance is really quite good. If you're really just...
I have a Baofeng UV5R that I got with a larger kit that included two batteries, a car charger, an 11 inch (if memory serves) whip antenna. You can also get a larger battery that will easily last all day and into the next. A buddy of mine used one of his UV5Rs and a homemade yagi antenna to make...
It's worth a visit for sure. The back country campsites (both backpacking and car-camping) are great and many of them are very isolated. Something to keep in mind with planning a trip to BBNP is to work around the heat, as it gets very hot during the summer months and probably would be much less...
There's plenty to see in Colorado for sure, but Pikes Peak is a really cool short stop you can make. Also Rocky Mountain National Park is supremely beautiful. Utah is full of stuff to see, though a lot of it is desert and I know you've got plenty of that in Australia, so that may not be what...
Not a problem! Not enough people know about them and I hate to see people spend tons of money on stuff that won't serve them any better! Also, if you have a Harbor Freight nearby you can go get your hands on them in-store to really get a feel for them.
I'll second the Apache boxes from Harbor Freight. I know people who trust them with their expensive music equipment and they're definitely affordable compared to most other options. Maybe you want to get real Pelican cases for particularly expensive equipment, but the Apache cases are more than...
Okay, so I'm wanting to build a custom low profile roof rack for my '98 Isuzu Trooper. I don't have a welder, so I had been thinking about figuring out a bolt-together solution, but bolts can wiggle free and that might not look very great. Now I'm thinking about using square aluminum tubing and...
I hope this is the right place for this.
I was perusing Facebook marketplace and found this '91 Land Cruiser for sale in Adger, Alabama. From the pictures it pretty clean. Maybe someone here will be interested!
Finally got things put back together after breaking a cv joint a few weekends ago. New CVs, new lower ball joints, a new lug stud, and a manual hub upgrade. Feels good!
Went camping in the Talladega national forest this weekend and reached a new level of achievement with a busted CV joint. Luckily I was able to limp home. New parts (yay!) are in the mail already. Taking the moment to convert to manual hubs as well. Will post pictures once that's complete!
Thanks everyone for the advice! I'm at the point where I'm shopping around to try to find the next tire that balances performance, appearance, and cost. Turns out that's quite a chore...
Any light that anyone can shed on the functional differences between the Cooper Discoverer AT All-Season and the Cooper Discoverer AT3 would be great. From what I can tell, they have the same load and speed rating, similar tread pattern, but a $100 price difference per tire! The AT is a 55,000...
