    Shortening synthetic winch line

I have tied bowlines in 5/8" amsteel and picked up 30,000 lbs with it. We use nothing but synthetic line on fishing boats, and we work it harder than most recoveries. Why not just use knots? Samson Rope's website has a great section about it.

    1994 Mitsubishi Pajero turbo diesel

I originally wanted to TDI swap a gen 2 Montero. But after crunching the actual build numbers it was cheaper to buy a nice imported Pajero with the 4M40. And your storage looks great! This is more-or-less a prototype to see if my measurements worked. OSB is stupid heavy but I have several...

    Use of AI in Overlanding

Man, if you are relying on AI to help wire your car you will burn it to the ground. This is coming from a 20 year auto tech that has had to remove a rash of ridiculous installs of shit with people doing what you are. It does not understand ohm's law and how it applies in the real world. It spits...

    1994 Mitsubishi Pajero turbo diesel

Picked this up a few months ago to use as a family trip machine on the west coast. Put 33's on it and ripped the sidesteps off. Now scrounging around my garage and building a storage *something* in the back. It rattles, whistles, and smokes in all the right ways. Absolute hoot to drive and I...

What is the coolest or weirdest thing you have found while exploring?

Before I got married my buddy and I used gold-panning as an excuse to just go walk around in the forest. We would take old logging road or even game trailes to spots in the many rivers and streams up here in the PNW. We maybe a half gram of gold in all that time. But I got a chainsaw and my...

    Chainsaws?

My saw is one a buddy and I literally found in the forest 9 years ago. We stumbled upon an arrested felons bug-out camp in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie Nat'l Forest. It was next to a couple 5 gallon buckets full of beans. 35cc Homelite. I put a new spark plug and threw a new bar and chain on it...

Closing the parks and public lands?

I am a member of several local dirt bike groups and clubs. We want everyone to avoid riding right now. Hospitals are full. We don't want anyone to get injured and put further strain on our first responders and care givers.

    DIY aluminum fridge box

I can't remember the member off the top of my head but a guy built his entire slide our kitchen with 8020 and documented everything. Michael made a video highlighting it.

The Rot Wagon: Lifted 99 Subaru Impreza

Cut it out and cage it. You should set up a go-fund-me so you can buy another daily-driver. Your builds are so entertaining!

San Juan County, CO closed to visitors due to COVID-19

They don't care. They will do whatever they feel like and will force someone to make the judicial system deem it constitutional or not.

    Wheels for 2nd Gen. Xterra

Steel or allow will depend on what you want them to look like. You want offset as close to stock as possible, without causing rubbing at full-lock. Unless you are planning on running tire pressure below 10 psi bead-locks will be a waste of money.
