I know someone who has one and he loves it. He took it to Hollister here in Northern California and he was able to do a lot - a lot more than all the other rigs around us thought he could.
I did a trip from CT to Nova Scotia about 13 years ago during August and it was so beautiful. This was before I got into overlanding so it was in a sedan. I'm excited to see your planning and hopefully pictures of your trip. I took so many pictures and then my sister did something really lame...
That's awesome they'll be competing again! Is your wife and her teammate on this forum? I wish there was a forum like this for the Rebelle Rally so the participants could talk to each other.
It's only been a month since this officially started and we've be having a lot of fun so far. Definitely some hard work going on as well, but well worth it.
There is something in the mud at Frank Raines. I was out there with a group of Land Rovers earlier this year and 2 of them died on the way home because they played in the mud pit too. Both had to replace their alternators.
My rig is grey and I have the olive drab one. I was going to get black, but the trasharoos get so dusty and dirty on the back of all rigs and I felt dirt on the olive color looked cool whereas dirt on the black one just looked dirty. Lol.
That does look very cool. Have you tried contacting the person who started the kickstarter? Often they will continue working on their product with private funding and because they have a patent I wouldn't be surprised if it's still in the works.
