I am browsing this forum to find what others are using, and GAIA seems to be the go to (even more so than dedicated garmens and the like).
But has anyone tried Backcountry Navigator? I find it to be very good sitting at home, but because i do not have much experience with these apps in...
I bought a GMRS radio, paid the $70 fee, and got a call sign. Boy was that stupid. I love the radio, but regret i wasted my money on the fee - I've had the radio for 3 months now and NO ONE HAS EVER used a call sign. EVER. And in most urban areas, 90% of the traffic is children playing...
Yep, mine too. This might raise dust in here, but to get a HAM tech license you have to study a bunch of useless nerdy stuff most will never use. Sure not "useless" to some of hobbyists of course, and in a SHTF sitch its gold - but certainly not needed for overland, general communication and...
Will this be fine for a GMRS radio? I literally bought the same ditch light bracket mount (and a little "ghost" antenna to go with it) directly from Midland's website, and they feature a very similar picture. I assumed (maybe mistakenly) that if they sell one for the radio, the setup should...
I would also add the "barrier" that you have to study ridiculous questions most people have no interest in and have no relevance to what you actually want to use the radio for.
Thanks. Yeah learning fast but this is very helpful. Crossband seems great because as I understand it, I could be out hiking in range of the truck while waiting for friends, which would then have more power to transmit my 3-5 w Hand held signal to a 50W mobile that repeats it way farther.
Interesting news: I have the same radio and bought the 6 dB gain and the "ghost" 3 dB shorty right from Midland. But a guy that knows a lot more about radio tech than me said the specs on the little shorty "are blatant lies" based on antenna frequency and size. Not sure how they could do...
I am new in here. There will be lots of opinions, but let me state fact: Toyota is the most reliable brand out there, and has the best resale value so if THAT is your thing, (AKA financial best sense) then get the tacoma. Another advantage to the tacoma is the enthusiasts and aftermarket...
I would absolutely recommend Schnebly Hill Road, take it from Hwy 17 down into Sedona. Then hit up the broken arrow trail once you get into Sedona. You will it.
Oh wow, i went from checking facebook into this site, as I am researching whether to buy Gaia GPS or OnX Offroad, and saw this message. I LITERALLY just wrote to you about your site on Facebook!! I am matthew, and the guy who made the comment about the mobile compatibility.
