Hello fellow OB members, I just recently moved to St Louis (West County) from California. I've done a fair share of exploring in the Sierra Nevadas and now I'm looking forward to exploring the Ozarks and beyond.
I drive an 80 Series LC, mostly stock.
Hope to see you all on the trail or at a...
We will be heading there in early May, I'll be happy to let you know what I find out.
Once you know your dates I would get the permit. We had no problem getting ours but I hear certain dates can fill up fast.

One comment that may (or may not) be helpful. I've found that 1996-2003 vehicles (give or take a few years depending on the make) are a bit of a sweet spot for overland builds.
Vehicles made before that range usually are very capable but do not feature many of the comforts that are appreciated...
We use a Coleman Easy Up tent which was given to us. When it's in use we really like it. Not too difficult to setup as the name suggests. Lots of room to stand.
The big downside to this as opposed to a more expensive tent like the REI Kingdom Dome is the packed size. We have the "10 person"...
We had the same sticker on our XC90, same peeling issue. I replaced it with one I received in late summer 2016 and so far I've had no problems with the replacement.
Our XC90 is not in the brush too often but the sticker has been exposed to plenty of sun, rain and snow.

All of them are great options. If your going with the big one definitely invest in a tank instead of the 1lb bottles.
Really just comes down to how much space you have to pack and how much sqft you want to heat.
Guess who is getting an Overland Bound T-Shirt for Christmas!
Also @Michael is there a good way to gift an OB membership or should I just give them a check and tell em to go sign up on their own?
My family and I have some great memories from this trip and we are so glad we were able to meet many OB members.
Many many years ago my parents bought me the book "4-Wheel Freedom" by DeLong. I was 14 at the time and I read it cover to cover countless times before I ever even had a drivers...
Same thing happening with me on the white stickers. The yellow one (put on at same time) is doing fine.
Also no need to mail, just wanted to let y'all know it seems it isn't isolated to maktruk
There is a road out the back of Sand Flat Campground that basically follows Alder Creek down to MET (or at least close to it). I believe it is called Alder Creek Rd at the front and then becomes a series of FS roads. The road on the other side is called Cat Creek Road and it connects to 88.

Hey guys,
It's so fun to read about all the trips people are planning for this summer. I figured I'd toss mine into the mix and hopefully motivate a few more to get out and explore! This summer I am planning a trip from Yosemite to Lake Tahoe, via as much dirt as possible. A rough idea of the...
I'm about 80% sure I could meet up with you guys on the 21st in Bodie. My parents live near Topaz Lake, NV (about 90min up 395) so I could drop the kiddos off there Friday evening and come down to Bodie early Sat morning.
The river is nice. It is full enough this year that we were able to hear it rushing at night (I love the sound of running water while camping). We stayed in the Ponderosa Tent Sites. I've never stayed in a Trailer or RV here so I can't really comment on those site but from what I've seen I would...
I just returned from an overnight trip to Yosemite Lakes with my daughter. The resort itself is currently being renovated so there are construction materials everywhere but it was still a comfortable place to camp. One thing we've always liked about Yosemite Lakes and other Thousand Trails...
