Thanks!
Definitely still loving the King Springs and 2" spacer lift.
Wouldn't change back for the world. ITs fun to rally her around like an old pickup truck and she does great on washboard roads and can hold her own on jeep trails.
Once my Hankook ATM's need replacing I plan to go with some...
Thanks!
I will say, the best part of this car has been owning it outright. I really dig not having a car payment.
I plan to keep her around until she dies.
Solid point.
And yes,
I actually ended up installing OEM fogs right after I posted this article.
well worth it and really gave the car a little facelift.
Its been a 2+ years now and still no issues.
I did get a 3 year alignment package through my local tire shop.
So I take it in every 4 months for a quick alignment while I wait. But thats about it. And honestly, that might be overkill.
I haven't really noticed anything wrong and I do take it up...
Sorry for the year laterresponse. I haven't been on here in a while...
the tires brought MPG down 3+, and the rack another 2 or 3.
the rack tends to come on and off depending on what im up to.
I like taking it off when I do a full wax / detail, and then it usually doesnt come back on until my...
Is the rear sway bar removal a big difference? My mechanic said it wouldn't be so i left it. But now you've got me second guessing...
What characteristics does it change?
My 2017 OB has a 2" ADF lift plus standard height King Springs. I have never tried Rallitek, but i will say i love my King Springs to death. Not only has it been a massive improvement off road, but it handles much better on road compared to stock. My vehicle is often empty for on road and when...
Yes, i love the XJ. Its such a cool little off road beast. But i agree, on the long haul trips it was just never easy to drive far in. The outback just cruises the highways the way a Cadillac would. Granted, once i get where i'm going i'm toning it down quite a few notches compared to the XJ...
Thanks for reading! And yes, i'm loving it. I try to spend less time obsessing over gear and more time just getting outdoors. This car has enabled that side of me. Its simple, not too full of tech, i load it up and i go. It feels like the balance i was looking for. I'm now a Subaru fan.
Good point, i'll look into it. There is another OB driver on this forum that uses it for recovery which is where i got the idea. That said, i will do some more research and make sure.
Cool! I intentionally didn't drive a 3.6R as i didn't want to tease myself and then have regrets later. I will say, my vehicle before this was a turbo charged mini cooper S in stick shift, and moving over to the Subaru Outback 2.5i i was really worried about it feeling under powered. I have been...
Outback 2.5i 'Budget Build' - thread
So 5 or 6 months ago I wanted to build an overland vehicle but had no idea what i wanted.
So I would google all sorts of things like "best budget overland vehicle".
I would then see people posting this exact question on forums like this one and I could...
Wawa, you are the man! Thank you for the thorough reply.
So, i mis spoke the offset is 55. Not 35, you are absolutely right. I always think 35 because i associate the smaller number pulling the wheel into the wheel well, not pushing out, its a brain teaser for me. Thanks for pointing that out...
Question for you...
Ordering some tires today for my 2017 5th gen. I decided on Hankook 245/65r17 which i'll be putting on the 17" OEM alloy wheel.
(call me crazy but i like the look of the OEM wheel and dont really want to change it since its a 17")
That said,
i noticed everyone with 245's...
This is great info! I'm preparing to do a micro budget overland build with a Subaru and i had no idea about the OE hooks. Its the one item i've been decidng on if its worth working into my budget. Very helpful!
I am confused about the OE plastidip wheels. The wheels in your photos don't look OE...
What kind of traction boards are you using? And do you mind telling me how you mounted the quick fists for your shovel to the rack?
Been brain storming ideas of how to do that.
Thanks in advance!
