We did Ophir, Poughkeepsie Gulch then over Hurrican Pass. We tried Black Bear Pass but got almost to the steps and snow was blocking the road. You could see where folks had created a "new trail" to get around it but I felt too guilty to use it... so we turned around. We also drove over...
Brick house 737 in Ouray is outstanding! Gold belt Bar and Grill was pretty good too. Telluride has a million places but we didn’t really eat there. Silverton is honestly a little limited except my 12 year old son loved the Funnel Cake Factory!
Okay, cool. Btw, what trail in the area are you most interested in running? I'm going to run several during the week but will "save" the one you want to do for Friday morning.
Taking my wife and 2 kids on a Colorado trip next week and plan to run some of the trails and passes around Sliverton, Ouray and Telluride. We've been out there before, about three years ago and drove over Imogene and Ophir Passes. I'm thinking of driving the Alpine loop starting in Ouray and...
I'll be in Telluride and Ouray all week (my birthday is August 9th) and looking to see if there is anyone else that might like to run some trails together. I'm also planning to the alpine loop as well as some other trails.
The weather for Friday night might not be great for Astronomy but I'm still going to go out there. Saturday looks a little be better. We'll see. It will still be fun either way.
I could meet you at the Mojave Rd sign and Cedar Cyn as early at 3pm if I get going on time. I'm hoping to get...
There are some cool basic telescopes from Celestron and others. That said the difference between a $100-$200 telescope and a $500-$700 telescope is really significant. It's more about the steadiness and quality of the mounts and computer assistance than anything. The optics are better too of...
Friday night forecast is looking less than ideal but Saturday looks promising. I hope to still set up on Friday assuming rain has moved out by then. Either way I’ll be there on Friday.
Good point. I'm guessing folks would enjoy having a fire, looks like it's going to be cold, so if everyone brings a bundle it seems like that should last us for two nights. I'll try to setup telescopes away from any light, including a fire, as that does make a noticeable difference it how well...
There are already 5 rigs signed up to go. (I'm actually the 6th rig.) I don't know if anyone will drop out at the last minute. We might be able to fit another rig or... there are multiple camp spots in the area so you might be able to find something very close by. I'm not too worried about...
