Did you hear? The NPS permit fees for filming ruled unconstitutional

Technically, the NPS can't prohibit you from flying over the National Park. What they can do is prohibit you from taking off and landing from the park grounds, much the same a NYC prohibits the same. If you can find a location, such a a private house that exists inside the the park or boarders...

    Looking for Grand Canyon Advice

Bumping this thread since we're thinking about a trip in the spring or early summer. What the camping options on the North Rim in March and May? How hot does it get in May there? Is it still freezing cold in March at night?

Did you hear? The NPS permit fees for filming ruled unconstitutional

Last week a Federal judge, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, ruled that it is unconstitutional for the National Parks service to charge permit fees for commercial film making. This is a huge win for the overlanding community also for those who like to film their adventures...

    Overlander Film Festival

Bumping this thread. Today is the last day to submit a film. I finally got mine finished and submitted this morning. It took over 8 hours to up load. Not because it's a big film, but because our internet is so fracking slow. If you submitted a film, post a link to it in this thread once they...

Let's work on scheduling an Oklahoma meet up

Aha! Good stuff. I'm going to send you a PM. We'll be down there probably next weekend as we plan to visit the grave site of Geronimo as part of our OAT trip.

Let's work on scheduling an Oklahoma meet up

We're about to leave next week to go do the whole OAT. Going to have to split it between a couple or three weeks because of dance class for the daughter and some online classes I'm doing. Hopefully I'll get a good feel for what might be good location for a meet up.

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

There's plenty of trails up in the hills south of the dam in the Disney off road area. How much mud there is depends on how much rain we've had lately. Here's some picture of my truck running around out there many years ago:

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

Now that things are opening back up, let's work on scheduling an Oklahoma meet up/trip. (Quick, before they shut everything down again). I suggest either Labor Day weekend, or during fall break in October so we can do a few days and the kids won't miss any school. Suggestions for places to go...

    Overlander Film Festival

I'm going to submit a film. This is going to finally get us out of the house and doing some traveling this summer after the layoff and lock down. And hopefully it will force me to learn about video and editing so I can leverage those skills in my professional life too.

    HoneyMoon PNW

Sounds like a great trip. But, is this what you're new bride actually WANTS to do for HER honeymoon?

    Zion overlanding.

I think going overlanding at this point is irresponsible. Zion is closed, along with all the rest of the national and State parks. And setting out to go camping on public land sets a bad example for the rest of the overlanding community. Unless you have access to a private camp spot owned by...

    What's your dream trip?

I would love to spend a couple months in Australia, overlanding or not.

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

I'm hoping that I will have enough cash left when our lock down ends to be able to take a week and run the whole trail. But at some point, I'm going to have to find a new job.

    What's your dream trip?

I want to get out and run the whole Oklahoma Adventure Trail as soon as I can after the shut down lets up. As per your question: I think we will see a limited easing of restrictions over time. I work in the entertainment business, as an audio engineer and was on tour in New York when this...

    What's your dream trip?

What's your dream overlanding trip? The one that you would take if time and money were no object? I have one trip that I have wanted to do for several years. And now that I'm unemployed due to the virus and have nothing to do all day long except watch overlanding videos and read blogs, I've...

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

Here's a Google Earth picture of the Oklahoma Adventure Trail. I took off all the way points and markers to make the route easier to see. It's something like 1,700 miles. And the Google Earth KML file that I made.
