My girlfriend isn't a tent camper, the thing that convinced her to come camp and have a great time was being able to sleep in the bed of the truck. I think it makes a big difference being up off the ground.
For sure, definitely plenty of side roads and detours. I was surprised at how few people were out there. Bodie itself was a different story. They were having some event and the town was super busy.
Hey everyone!
Last weekend my girlfriend and I made our first real trip! As the topic says, we took the old Bodie-Masonic road from just north of Bridgeport, through some BLM land and down into Bodie from the North.
This was our actually our second attempt, after being caught in a thunderstorm...
Awesome, that makes sense. Especially with a long bed I don't think my truck is ever going crawling. I keep mentioning getting aJeep to my girlfriend.... maybe one day.

I was running around with a measuring tape yesterday. I think I can get the smalls in the back of my truck when the seats are folded flat. The large would fit in the bed, so I'm not sure if the medium would end up being an awkward in-between when I'm loading up.

The heavy duty ones look cool, but the biggest thing missing from both is the lack of a seal. There's a DIY thread around here that solves it - that's what I'm planning to do.

Just wondering what (you guys think) the most versatile size for the Plano sportsman trunks are? Reading the dimensions online doesn't really give much of a feel for what they are like in real life.
I'll be using the to store bedding, cookware, food and miscellaneous bits and pieces - thinking...
Looking good! I keep changing my mind about whether the DCLB is too long, but after sleeping under the softtopper last weekend I'm sold on the long bed. Definitely a change around town though compared to a VW GTI!
Some great builds in this thread! Feel like I've seen some of them on TacomaWorld too.
Here's my 2017 TRD Sport. Only real overland stuff is the softtopper, my other mods are aesthetic: HIDs and a noisy MBRP cat-back.
