Bought in 2016 from Voodoo. The come from the infamous batch of 'bad powdercoating' that Voodoo didn't wish to be responsible for. After numerous emails to VF and some petty douchey responses from VF, I just kept using even though they began to rust 2 months after getting. Fast forward to today...
Year 2, the rust on the inside of the cross bars is the worst, as can be expected when powder coating an interior enclosed area. Unfortunately, recoating these is not cheap. Glad they resolved for others but does nothing for those of us with crap coating and facing replacement cost.
Here's my DIY shower for the Tacoma. Went to Home Depot and found 2 cut-off lengths that were priced cheap ($3/ea?), bought 2 caps and, the T, a coupler and the 2" plug for about $36 for pipe. Note, when you buy the caps, make sure they are flat faced on the inside. Some have a raised ring which...
I finally got around to modifying a new canopy and rainfly. I changed the overall size of canopy by giving about 1/2" additional allowance in the length of the side walls and lengthened the top fabric panel the same. This allows a bit more ease in set up overall as it lays a bit looser on the...
A bunch of little issues. I am remaking the rain fly and tent this month. As they were a little sloppy for.my liking, and the rain fly fabric I originally chose did not hold a shape well. Going with a dimemsion-polyant sail material for the next one. Added better inserts for the extension rods...
Funny you say that... We thought about it, hard, but it is a bit of a departure from our bag company overall. I think selling kits might be a good idea, but then again, you could buy all the parts off of 80/20 yourself without any markup. It would be nice to have an econo option in the market...
What is the resolution to the rust problem? I have never had a reply to my email - it started after 4 months and I need to basically strip and powder coat, which as you know is not an easy task. I hope this got resolved but it sucks for those of us that are dealing with it.
I did! I ended up making my own. I am working on revision 2 of the fabric portion this fall.

About $300, but I spent about $450 with trial and error... Some of my best laid plans didn't work. The worst of it is the hinges, they were $60 from Equipt. I probably could have found those cheaper. I also have a full textile manufacturing facility, so I have a luxury of making the fabric...
I was able to get some time in this weekend after traveling for 4 months solid. Since NWOR is this weekend, I figured I better get it done... Here is the last of it... Both fabric portions will need to be remade, but these will do for one weekend. For the main cabin, the pattern is a bit too...
Crunch time... I sewed the windows and got the panels together. The fit is a bit tight on the long sides, but I have not put the 2 expansion slots on the side panels which are critical when you close it as they allow for geometry to change without ripping the fabric. So, I put the tent on for a...
