    $35 Amateur/GMRS radio fees

Yep the new fee is there right now, still cheaper than before, and probably worth it for a 10 yr license. Even Hams who get a new license or renew have the $35 fee now!!! Fun being had by all!

    HAM/GMRS

Wow, lots of advice one way or the other. Yes several radios are out there, can be used for many freqs, depending upon where you want to talk, distance, what freq, HF, VHF/UHF etc. Even a Marine band radio can be used to program different freqs that can be used out there. Also, the Multi-Use...

Who is a Wilderness EMT, Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid certified?

Great experienced folks here. I am not current in my certifications, though in the past I was an Army medic, then a Naval Hospital Corpsman who was a field med tech with the Marines, EMT certified at one time, originally a certified surgical Tech, and a few more specialties in the past. I...

    Ham Radio

Yes modern day satellite comm is one item all should have when they are out there, and we are not talking about your cell phone! Depending on location, as you stated, my ham gear, if I am able to set up, will get out someplace, and I do understand that some 2m simplex freqs are monitored a lot...

OB Approved Overland Bound Comms Frequency Guide

great suggestions, and don't forget about 146.52 national simplex freq also, many monitor this freq daily. However, always, know before hand where to be. So the standard freqs mentioned at the beginning of these posts are excellent, thank you. Some Chinese and other radios are a decent price...

    Ham Radio

Yep, I agree thank you, determine what your group will be using and all use that gear and frequencies. If you are using guides, they will let you know what comm they are using. Though if you and your friends are without a guide, it will be up to y'all to determine what comm will be used, and...

    Ham Radio

Yes, I agree thank you, determine what your group will be using and all use that gear and frequencies. Actually the $35 is a new fee for Ham Radio, up until now, we have not had to pay a fee for new or renewals, at least in my opinion. I do believe they wanted to charge the $70 initially...
