A newbie here, and enjoy all the posts about comm. My thoughts quickly: FRS is really not worth the funds expended. Line of sight radios that don't have much for hills etc. The miles listed on the package are really not accurate. Good if you are close to each other and not in the next valley...

A newbie here, from the Shenandoah Valley area. Have done some out there trips, though not enough. Serve my Church on weekends and head out during the week. Love to be out there, use my radio on POTA trips, and just plain explore. Glad to be here to learn from the pros.
