Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
They’ll never go all in. Not going to happen. The transmission isn’t necessarily an issue. Heat and software hold it back and both are easily cured. The differentials are already in the parts bin and a simple add especially considering it’s literally the new STi drivetrain.
Ok if no one else is going to say it I will... the wilderness edition looks like sin. I’d say the only addition worth mentioning is the gearing change which I was thoroughly surprised by.
Welcome to Overland Bound and the East Region @jwright! I find it better to run Paddy Mtn east to west. Here’s a thread I started a while back with gpx files and information about BESF.

Theres been a ton of melt over the last week or so but the issue with BESF, and not a new one, is that any of the roads in the north side of ridges basically stay in the shade all day long. Ice pack has ALWAYS been an issue there and will remain so. The unfortunate increased popularity has only...
I’m sure it’s ‘doable’ but my concern would be stability and durability. In the video he’s mounting smaller items on short arms that I’m sure will bounce a bit off road. Add anything larger, an iPad for example, and that bounce gets much worse all while placing additional torque on nothing more...
I wouldn’t be going full size for that reason. I know I couldn’t fit one where I go with my Outback haha. There are simply too many things I can’t/won’t do with my Outback at this point. I knew this before the Outback but the day to day mpg always won out.
I forget the brand of the dash...
I’m finally ok with accepting the mpg penalty and will be getting a truck.
I’m down to ditch light brackets, F/R springs, probably wheels/tires, the interior Ram mounts, cargo barrier, and I’m sure other things I’m not remembering haha.
Thank you! My Outback has been on its way back towards stock-ish. It’s been great but it’s time for something different. I actually never really thought about offering up parts on here but maybe I will going forward.
There’s been mention of ADF for lifting but I will say, depending on your...
@DrockinWV @Sasquatch SC @Jeffrey Dill lift has zero impact on what fits on the 5th gen. A 245/65r17 will rub the same place up front at stock height as it does lifted 3.25”.
Love all the Subaru build activity lately. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Theres a lot of rotational mass to be saved by swapping wheels. This can help offset the added mass from AT tires which can be substantial depending on the tire choice. When building a Subaru saving weight...
Welcome Matthew! As I see you already know Michaux isn’t far from you and has some really nice forest drives. We’re very fortunate to have all the state game, forest, and park land that we do in Pennsyltucky. Not to mention National lands in Allegheny National Forest and Delaware Water Gap. Feel...
In my opinion ditch lights should be aimed to the L/R and as a result have zero usefulness on the road. Forward facing lights on ditch light brackets will likely do more harm than good in both hood glare and eye glare for oncoming vehicles. Flood or diffuse optics work great because the sole...
I’ve heard rumors that it’ll fit aired down but was curious since I didn’t see a spare on the roof. The other reason being that there’s room for a lot of gear under the floor if you put the spare elsewhere.
