Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Batteries are too expensive and too delicate to just dump 14+ volts into them, unregulated. These trailer charge circuits are only designed to "maintain" a battery that is already charged. They simply do not supply enough amps to "charge" a battery. If that works for you, so be it. But if the...
Thin Wheel adapter...Yes
Two inch wheel spacers....Only if the wheel offset remains centered on hub. If you extend the offset out from the centerline of the hub you add tremendous strain on those tiny 1' stub axles. I wouldn't do it for anything approaching a long trip.
Ordered a Propane water heater to take showers while boondocking. Needed a 12V water pump to go with it.
Harbor Freight supplied the Ersatz Pelican Box.....A new Shark Bite / Plex tool and fitings from Amazon and some hose fittings from ACE Hardware.....
Nothing like a hot shower after a day...
My concern is the National Luna device is a "dumb" device. It simply looks at truck battery voltage and when that is satisfied, closes a relay and draws current from alternator to charge the aux battery.
These DC to DC charghers are "smart" devices. I believe they look at more than just...
This is complicated. Two devices (National Luna and DC to DC) are both trying to use the trucks battery as a source. Not sure how the devices would interpret the batteries condition to start the charge cycle to the aux and trailer batteries.
I'd call the DC to DC manufacturer for advise.....
Here is the third attempt at designing and building a hard cover for my Smittybilt RTT. The first two versions were complicated, hard to seal out the weather, and caused some modification to the tent itself
This new version is simply a cover that sits on an aluminum rim that is installed all...
I'm confused....Do you have a DC to DC Charger AND a National Luna setup? You show two drawings.
Do you have a truck starting battery, a truck aux battery and trailer batteries?
Be aware, if you simply hook both batteries top a single charger, the batteries will be feeding into each other. If...
Working on my hard cover for my RTT, I needed some Epoxy. 30 years ago I built a few cedar strip canoes and small sail boats. I used West System epoxies. I had open cans of 105 Resin and 205 Hardener...With pumps installed. They were stored in my 55 degree basement all these years. I dug them...
Here is the second version of my prototype for a hard cover for a RTT......
I really like this version except I'm concerned about the integrity of the front piece that you need to crawl over and its ability to support the weight of the extension when the tent is opened.
Secondly, there will be...
Roaddude....I had seen your RTT a while ago. Fantastic! I was thinking about building my own but a fantastic deal came along for this Smittybily and I couldn't walk away. I just hate the cover. A real pain to put on when my RTT is nearly 8' up in the air.
Version 2. with the cover attached to...
But now that the prototype is done, and I set on my "Ponder Stool" in the garage and ponder the next step, I realize that the upper part of the cover could simply be attached to the bottom of the folding part of the RTT. More 2.5" flat aluminum around the perimeter and just like the bottom...
