Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I’m going to be “that guy” and critique the video posted. Anytime you pick up a chainsaw, electric or gas you should have chaps, gloves and eye-pro.
The new gen of battery powered saws is straight up awesome and I’m excited to try some in the field. Good to hear these are holding up.
The fabric is a big part of what makes it different. The fame is very similar. Her is a video showing how it holds up. I’d be interested to see how the Gazelle or Oz tents do in similar testing.
I really like the gazelles and the oz tents but I love my shiftpod.
You don’t “need” anything other than stock but there are many things you can do to improve things Offroading. Click my build link in my signature for 2015 f150 build ideas. Good luck!
I have over 30 nights in my shiftpod 2.0 last year from 90 degrees to minus 15. I love the thing. I am considering a second for my kids and dogs along with the tunnel system. While it’s not magic the insulation certainly helps regulate temp, light, and sound.
I’m going to have to agree to disagree on this. I prefer to balance up and down travel. This may not be as important in your geographical area or style of wheeling and that’s ok.
I had arb covers, correct link, correct bompstops and made contact. It happens. Literally millions of jeeps have those covers and we both know most of those millions don’t go farther than the mall parking lot.
You are right that axles too far forward can cause this to be more prevalent...
This is actually well documented by many established TJ owners and is a real thing. ARB, OX, Riddlers, and solids to name a few. My ARB front cover hit with the JKS and the Currie correctlinc. Google it and find out for yourself.
I was getting a little rubbing at full lock with the new tires so I picked up a portable power pack and spread the crash bars out a little bit. Worked perfectly!
My passenger/front side caliper took a dump so I did new brakes, rotors all around and replaced both front calipers. And with every...
If you are thinking about doing a bed rug I highly recommend them however if I did it again I would buy the whole beg version including the sides just for a little insulation for cold nights. I’m digging your build so far!
I had a pretty extensive LJ build that went a little beyond overlanding but some of my lessons learned can translate very easily. Check out my build here: Boosted LJ Build - JeepForum.com
Priorities for your Jeep:
ODPA should be changed immediately, these are known to explode at the worst...
Remote Res coil overs are definitely overkill, most people buy them because they are more expensive and look cool.
I did a ton of research and decided on the Fox 2.5 coilovers with matching rear shocks. I’m very happy and believe these are the best bang for the buck in quality systems. This...
While there are other competitors I went with and Spod. I’ve owned two units, one was their original and the newer one is their blue tooth enabled unit with touch screen. I love both and the really important part is the top notch customer service I have received from them after the sale.
Is...
Keep in mind there are front and rear breathers as well as a trans breather. All should be addressed if you are crossing water over the height of the hubs.
Nice whip! I really like my Fox coilovers. The link to my build is in my signature. My truck is a daily driver, disaster response and SAR vehicle as well as overlanding so I’ve been dialing in the modularity piece.
Welcome tot he forum! I have a 15 F150 as well. Check out my build in my signature and give me some feedback. I’m very happy with my comms, check that out.
I’ve used GAIA for a couple years and really like it, I also use Caltopo/SARtopo. Garmin Navigator as a back up
I used both for my 5700 mile Labrador/New Foundland/Nova Scotia expedition last fall and they worked flawlessly. I use an IPad Pro 12.9 cellular equipped but no cell service(so I...
