Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
One thing to consider with using relays is you can keep the length of the power wires down. Add in the distance from the feed line, up in to the cab and back down. The added resistance adds up and can reduce the power to the light or accessory. Also, you can run smaller wire to the switch, so...
100% agree. My wife and I go over our budget monthly and adjust accordingly. Retirement contributions are included in with the bills. Most times when one of us gets a raise, we look at our "ins and outs" and simply increase our retirement contribution that much as an extra 3% isn't make or break...
To the O.P., I do agree it was a s#it situation being out of work and then sucking it up and taking a job at Wal-Mart for half as much as yo uwere making previously. I was / am in manufacturing and that was pretty hard hit during the depression. BUT.... from that, it took me down a peg or two...
Good to hear.
I got tripped up by a weak fuel pump years ago on a carbureted car. It would start and run fine and drive around town just great. But, as soon as you leaned on the skinny pedal, it would sputter and stumble for a few blocks. I had plenty of fuel pressure in the driveway. It wasn't...
My "budget" has always been dependent on the situation. I was laid off in 2009 and ended up at Wal-Mart (got tired of unemployment after about 30 days) making Half as much. My budget allowed me $29 at the end of the month, so, I drank PBR, camped in my $29 tent, bought no new gear and only did...
While not over anything that difficult, our last trip was WAY back in the woods to a remote lake. Plenty of mud, water holes and tree branches banging on the side of the truck on the way in. As we rounded the last corner to the lake? There was a Honda Oddesey parked and two ladies were camped...
#1, vehicles are never a rational money wise decision.
#2, you kind of just know when it is time to jump ship. With me, it is when it becomes critically rusty or becomes unreliable. A few times it has been because the new offerings are head and shoulders above what you currently have.
I run the pep boys version of the MF-1050 compressor. https://www.pepboys.com/product/details/9357343/00871
The main reason these get bad reviews is because they don't like to start against pressure. If you turn the compressor on and THEN attach it to the valve stem, it works fine. I've used...
Sliders and skid plates were the best money I have ever spent on my truck. I can rest easy every time I hear a thump or a scrape....
Last item ordered, Wam bumpers hidden winch mount. Next item is of course a winch. Probably going with an Engo 9000lb with synthetic line.
Like everything, it's an educated decision/risk based on cost. While I don't have a badlands winch, I'm buying a winch soon and I did look at them in my search. What I found was the cost savings didn't quite outweigh the risk of failure.
The 9000lb badlands winch with steel cable and roller...
Rig looks good! I'm considering a winch mount like that for my Frontier as well. And I agree, With a Titan swap as I have, if you so much as look at mud, the sides of your truck are covered. I love the wheel travel, but, I've all but given up washing my truck.
I'll also agree with the text color.
And "the north star state" is one of the state of Minnesota's nicknames (it's official motto is Its official motto on the state seal is "L'Étoile du Nord" or translated to English as "Star of the north", so I see no problem in using it.
Any chance you could post a picture of how the ladder hooks to the tent?
Have you considered looking for / at one of those multi position step ladders?
Not always. When you do the math on borrowing money, you have to factor in several things. Average numbers: new car loans are 2.84%, inflation is 2.08%, first year depreciation is 19%, and second year depreciation is 15%. Just based on APR and inflation alone, you wind up borrowing the money...
