Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Suburban FTW!! Even with the 3rd row up, there's STILL almost a fullsize cargo space in the rear.
From what I've read on various boards and car reviews, anything less than a fullsize will generally have a kids-only 3rd row, unless you go with some sort of crossover. I sat in the 3rd row of my...
Thanks! Good point about the bus's size and lack of stealth. I don't have time to take long enough trips to necessitate being "that bus guy".
Just take care when in your van around parks! True story... some guys from work were meeting at a local ball field after work to play, and one of them...
Was reading back through this thread and realized I had never responded to this.
Thanks for the insight! The van you bought sounds like a great deal, and the pics of your current van look awesome! I actually did a search for vans, I looked up AWD vans for the heck of it and found a few GM's...
Thanks man. Yeah, I'm really leaning that way now. I was looking at one this morning at Dunkin Donuts as I walked by it, and it's big, but not huge. It was parked next to a late model Grand Cherokee, and it was bigger than the Jeep, but it wasn't like it completely dwarfed it. I think the size...
I would LOVE a JKUR. For a while I was set on getting a new one, but reality set in and I decided I didn't want a 600/month car note. They're nice, but just stupid money.
If I had that kind of disposable income I'd love to have one as a toy, but I don't so I cant. Which is why I set a budget...
You guys talking about VT....if you ride, be sure to bring your MTB and hit the Kingdom Trails in East Burke! Not sure if there are any 4x4 trails out there, but that mtb trail network is heaven! I'll be spending a lot of time up there this summer.
Yeah, I've seen numerous 3rd gen T4R's listed f/s with over 300k miles, even one with over 400k (miles!) on it. Dude still wanted like 5k for it, haha.
That's pretty impressive mpg you get with yours, btw. I think these things were originally rated at like 16/19.
I see you're in AZ. Maybe...
That's funny, I actually saw one about the same on MA CL today, for $4,500. It looked rode hard and put away wet though. I'm not so concerned with mileage as I am general condition.
XJ's are abundant in my area, but it's finding a good one - that's the challenge. They get hit hard by the winters here, or people treat them as "disposable" and they're clapped out or beat to hell.
I was leaning toward the 4Runner because I thought that it would be more reliable for things...
That's a great looking X! My buddy had an 06, he loved it so much that once he hit 200k he traded it in on a '15 to get a new one while he could.
Great pics too, man I'm jealous of you folks out west!
Hahaha, hmmmm...I think you may be a Toyota fan?
I almost bought 3rd gen 4Runner yesterday. Was all set to head down to NJ to look at one with the intention of buying ('99 LTD, Jade Mica green, 176k, impeccable Carfax, rear locker). Looked pretty clean, even the drivers seat looked nice. Only...
That has actually crossed my mind... I'm going to be in Moab for ten days in about a month, I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open. I also have a friend in San Diego who's been trying to get me to go visit.
Oh that's good to know. I'm sure the LTD Slip and the gearing help out on the trails.
I had heard about the early 5.4's, that's kind of what turned me off of all of the Fords with that engine. I didn't realize it was just the earlier ones, I thought it was ALL years of 5.4. The same year GM's...
I want to do a build for the summer. looking around for a vehicle now. The Big and Bigger GM twins are on my list (doesn't matter if Chevy or GMC), but wondering if they're too big and thirsty....? The 16-17mpg you mentioned...is that what your stockers get? That's actually not bad at all...
Nice! I like spacer lifts, cheap and easy.
I'm looking around at these on CL now, seems like they can be had for relatively cheap. Hmmmm.....
I'm also looking around to see if they were available with limited slip differential... does yours have that? (or some sort of traction control?)
I like the wagon, for the mountainbike stuff it's great. I was just looking at it and Satchel's build thread again, and I have some ideas. I just don't to go nuts with it as it's already past the 200k mile mark. looks like Satchel has had some issues with his that mine hasn't had, and his has...
I rode Dead Horse Point last spring! Great trail. It was fun, but much easier than Ahab or Mag 7. It was our "relaxing" day.
I agree, the more I think about it, the more I realize my current car meets most of my needs, with the exception of being trail worthy. I want something I can take on...
No, I don't currently tow. Not to say I never would, but as of now I don't have anything that I need to tow.
I just like having a vehicle with power. The smaller engine getting better mpg isn't always true. My 6 cylinder Grand Cherokee got about the same as my buddy's V8 powered one. We had the...
Yeah, the 80 series are very cool, I like them a lot. I've looked on CL, and they seem to be either clapped out or realllly nice and stupid money. I feel like a 3rd gen 4R would be a good compromise, as far as most of the reliability and capability for much less $$, generally speaking.
