    6' Trailer Overland/Camping Ideas

Sand finds its way into everything so I didn't bother to try, at least here most of it blows away. This way I still have a level of security but can also reach through and move stuff around. I've been considering building the expedition box but I just haven't seen it as being worth the...

    Texas State Park Exploration.

Where are you starting from? Might want to call ahead on the coastal ones. Mustang island was destroyed by Harvey and Goose Island is only partially open. You can see the alerts on the TPWD app but the sometimes things get opened or closed when you aren't looking.

    An Idiot Wonders About Solar

Here's my take, anything is better than nothing. If you find that the truck won't crank then unplug the fridge, turn everything off and wait a day or two while the trickle charge solar panel does its thing. The 6 watt Coleman solar panel I use to help my little bait aerator/phone charger...

Show Me Your Chuckboxes/Camp Kitchen Setups

I was thinking about building something like that with a transmission cooler I had laying around, but that looks more durable. Here's my new chuck box/grub hub.

    6' Trailer Overland/Camping Ideas

Scrap 2x4s can keep things from sliding around. Here's mine, but I'm undecided on enclosing. At the beach I put a tarp on the front to keep the truck from kicking up sand and just deal with the rest. When not traveling I throw a heavy tarp over it and tie the corners. Note the fold out cook...

    Best Pickup Truck Tent Method

Have you needed a cab basket yet? I've got a hitch basket that doubles as a step mount when the tailgate is down. It is high enough off the ground I don't worry about dragging and it offers a disposable bumper if someone gets too close. It holds stuff that is automatically unloaded.

    Best Pickup Truck Tent Method

It fits my needs better than the other options. I still have a full sized open bed when I'm not camping, I can set up this tent faster and easier than my ground tent and it is off the ground. I can also use coolers and stuff as furniture without loading or unloading anything. The only downside...

    Best Pickup Truck Tent Method

Yes, it was 1 inch. It was fairly sturdy but it didn't last long (700 or so highway miles) before the joints started to flex and distort. It was just a cheap test to see if I like the concept. I did and now I've got a kodiac canvas truck tent.

Wow, there is so much space. Hopefully the short trip next week I have planned will have good weather.

    venison

When I get the opportunities to shoot a feral pig, I mix that with the deer and chop up some onions, pablamo peppers, serrano peppers, garlic, salt and pepper. Add an egg to the mix to hold it all together and it makes a really good burger.

    Let's see those Overland Beachers!!

The little jeep just didn't have the torque so it got traded off.

    venison

I ground up my last one. I'll take the patties, cover with steak seasoning and pan fry. Once that is done put a slice of cheese on top and between two slices of toast with Stubbs bbq sauce.

Mixing synthetic oil and conventional oil

I'm gonna put this quote in here again as it is very important. "What's more important, is the viscosity. Modern engines are built to tighter tolerances than older ones, so a thinner oil is needed. Getting the wrong viscosity will do more damage, more quickly than any other misdemeanor" Engine...

    The open gate

My phone is having issues connecting with their server so I'm keeping it short tonight. In a nutshell, this is the law. You'll always find people that want to make up their own but this is what a LEO will probably be referring to if there is a disagreement and they get called.

    The open gate

Texas penal code Sec. 30.05. CRIMINAL TRESPASS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person enters or remains on or in property of another, including residential land, agricultural land, a recreational vehicle park, a building, or an aircraft or other vehicle, without effective consent and...

    Bugs, mosquitos, flies, no-see-ums

You can buy window and solar screen material that will keep most bugs out. There are also screens in standard tarp dimensions.

    Overlanding with a kayak- Security

Find a small storage unit that is 10 ft tall. Cable locks through scupper holes is the easiest option. I also live in a place where I have to worry about sticky fingers so I built a kayak trailer. It later evolved into a full camping utility trailer.

    Bugs, mosquitos, flies, no-see-ums

We've used permethrine for years on cattle to keep the flies off and as a premise spray around the house. The thermocell bug deterrents use a derivative of it. Don't let cats get in to it though. It'll cause acute nervous system damage, and if they survive, significant liver and kidney...
