  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

My DIY offroad utility (base camp) trailer

Have you thought about building the rack to be height adjustable? If you use linear actuators, raising and lowering is as simple as hitting a button.

Looks kind tall to me. Are you planning on putting a tent on the rack? Depending on the weight down low, it may be a bit top heavy. Just an observation. Looking good so far though!

    Reaver's Squaredrop Camper Build!!

Had another great day working on the trailer today. Got the floor fully pmf'd, and flipped back over! Using Pl premium adhesive, we attached the walls at the base, and screwed them into the 2x4s along the edge of the floor. I just bought a doweling jig, and that's what I'm going to use to...

    Reaver's Squaredrop Camper Build!!

Had a great day working on the trailer today. While I was measuring the back wall in preparation to cut out the rear door, @David H was busy cutting out some of the expanded metal, so we can pass wires and water hose through the floor. We also managed to get the stabilizer jacks mounted...

Round 2 DIY Squaredrop, doing it very differently this time

I mean, there are different sizes. If I had the ability to build my own, I absolutely would.

No work on the trailer this weekend. That didn't stop me from building things though... Just finished this for my wife.

Round 2 DIY Squaredrop, doing it very differently this time

Oh, I totally get it. I'm building mine as more of a prototype. Hopefully, I can drum up enough interest and build it well enough that I could potentially build them for others, and come in cheaper than most of the other manufacturers. Who knows though. I originally was set on going with an ACM...

Round 2 DIY Squaredrop, doing it very differently this time

I looked into skinning with both filon and acm panels on mine. Unfortunately, both were more than I wanted to spend, personally. They're super cool materials though. You're making faster progress than I am. BTW, ironman4x4america.com currently has their 270 degree awning with walls for 50%...

    Titan swapped 2012 frontier pro4x

Wait. I thought you got rid of the Fronty. I mean I'm glad you didn't. I'm surprised those fit in there, but they look great!

    Reaver's Squaredrop Camper Build!!

I managed to get both skeletons cut and skinned on the inside today. Unfortunately, I won't be able to work on it again until next weekend, when we cut the hole for the galley door.

    Reaver's Squaredrop Camper Build!!

Honestly, I'm not really sure. The door itself is probably about 3/4 Inch or so? The whole assembly will fit anything between 3/4 to about 1.75 inches I think.

    Reaver's Squaredrop Camper Build!!

And so it begins... Yesterday, @David H and I managed to get the floor completely assembled. The total thickness of the floor is about 2 inches. The bottom layer of plywood is 23/32, with 2x4 and 1.5 inch insulation, with 1/4 Inch birch ply making the top most layer. We then measured...

Opinions wanted on practicality of towing a trailer.

ive taken my current traiiler on MANY trails. Many of them rocky, and not something I'd recommend for a Subaru. I've not once had a failure of the axle or springs. The key is balancing your load, spring rates, and axle durability. For example, my current 4x6 trailer weighs roughly 2500 lbs...

    Reaver's Squaredrop Camper Build!!

Well, in playing with the lights in the vent fan, not only did I hate the daylight color (cool white), but I wanted to be able to dim them. So, after ordering an led strip and a dimmer, I have swapped the light strips in the fan for the correct color temp. Cutting out of work early tomorrow...

I think I've finished the electrical schematic for the new trailer: To view the full size image, click the following link: Electrical Schematic I've also got the main part with all build and laid out on a piece of wood. Now I just need to or all my wire. I'm not sure how long the pigtail...

    Portable water heater?

There's lots of different options. I've not used them yet personally, but I'm planning on putting one in the new trailer eventually. We have one like this, and it works pretty well. DR.PREPARE Camping Shower, 4 Gallons/5 Gallons Portable Camp Shower with Foot Pump, Dual Shower Options, Large...

    Overland Trailers

It is a fridge box on the passenger side. The drivers side will be used for additional storage. Galley is in the rear of the trailer, and the actual cooking surface folds down very much like the off grid trailer setup.

    01 NISSAN FRONTIER BUDGET BUILD

The D22 platform is super solid, and won't let you down. As long as you maintain the timing belt, and keep an eye on the valve covers, you won't have much to worry about. These rigs are over-engineered for what they are, and have much beefier components than the 2nd Gen, which is still a...

My DIY offroad utility (base camp) trailer

LOL. I feel that in my bones. I had a few friends helping me install some additional leaves in my Springs last summer, and that was fun... Looking forward to watching this progress.
