  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

What is in your medicine chest? (NOT first aid)

Besides my trauma kit, my first aid kit and "medicine box" are mixed. If you're close to civilization you obviously won't need a lot of this but we often camp where you're days away from a doctor or pharmacy. Medicine wise, these are the basics I usually carry; - Malanil / Malarone (for Malaria...

    ZA Roll call

Hi Folks, Looking at the map and some of the posts, it looks like there are at least a few South Africans here. Please chime in; who's here, where are you from and since there hasn't been one yet, would you be interested in an SA meetup? Cheers, Christoff

Hi Folks, I signed up for membership last week but haven't received an email with my member # or upgrade access code. Is this normal lead-time? I emailed info@overlandbound.com as well but no reply yet. Just want to make sure this isn't a systems issue Thanks! Christoff

    Ironman Suspension Issues

I have ironman shocks and coils with a 2” lift (on a Toyota Fortuner) and I haven’t had any issues. I’ve put around 40k km (25k mi) on them in all sorts of terrain. I’ve heard both great and bad stories so maybe it’s a quality control issue.

Your most rewarding campsite experience ever

We've had a few close up animal encounters at camp over the years but this one stands out. 2008 Khutse game reserve, Botswana. We had these two boys in the middle of camp 01:00 in the morning, calling away. There is nothing quite like waking up to two big male lions roaring literally a few feet...

    South Africa

True, I'm a member of some of those as well. I really like the OB core principles though and the work that's being done elsewhere (track cleanups, training etc). Would love to see more of that down here. It's a bit of a struggle to get folks together on some of these other forums (or maybe just...

    Conqueror 440/490

I've had my 440 for a few years now, it's been all over South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and I'm really happy with it. Only thing I might still change is a bat-wing awning instead of the standard L-shape canvas.
