Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Thanks guys.
My wife is an architect. :)
I'm building a secondary fuel filter and a 1 GPM filtration/purification system in a small case. The plan is to ship the car to Western Europe and drive to Vladivostok in Siberia along the Silk Road and Mongolia in the summer of 2021. Then ferry to...
Ha, yes and here is the total build cost. Cost of the vehicle is not included. The engine was gone. We were trying to sell it on Craigslist for $3K and no one called. So we decided to spend $40K and re-build it. The diesel engine/injector pump/tranny work was done by Valley Hybrid, a diesel...
It's on page 3.

Hi There,
Any update on the build?? It took me a year to build my 80 series. That included converting it from gas to diesel and automatic to manual. Took a while to find a 1HD-FT here in US.
About 25 years ago we bought a family car. A 1993 Toyota FZJ80 Landcruiser. It served us for 20 years for family camping, and car pooling around town. Now that the 4 kids have left the house, we have no use for it.
Looking at the low resale value, we decided instead to invest and convert it...
Nice build mate. How does it look inside? Did you prep the interior?
I've just finished a build on an 80 series. Took a year and $30K. First thing was the drive train. 1HDFT/H151 turbo diesel and register it in CA, so no smog requirements. It also gets 25 mpg, instead of 11. There...
Haha. Small world...
I've seen your rig. Looks great with the tent in the back. You are welcome to stop by. Just let me know and I'll bring the truck. Sometimes I drive my older diesel 60 series or the mustard 40 series. I am trying to set it up as the 'earthquake' cottage when we don't...
Thanks mate. Took almost 2 years to find the 1HDFT/H151 drive train and 6 months to do the diesel conversion and register it. The camper side took 6 months of long long weekends. Was well worth it.
Hi All,
Just came back from Alaska driving 8000 miles with a Land Cruiser that was built for the trip (and more). It had a bed, full kitchen and shower with hot and cold water. Traveled with 28 gallons of water and 30 gallons of fuel. All this without modifying the exterior of the vehicle. I...
Will do! thanks mate.
We are starting in the SF Bay Area. Leaving on the 12 of June. Probably be up there June 20 or so. Taking 30 days. Wish we could more...
Cheers
About to Finish a 1993 LandCruser 80 series conversion. 1HDFT/H151 Toyota 4.2L turbo diesel/5 speed. Drivetrain came from the vehicle that marked the waypoints for the Paris-Dakar race. Back has a full kitchen with a yacht fridge, sink and stove. Cold and hot (heat exchange with the...
