04 XTerra Overland Build (and new guy)

Before and after pic of my engine bay.  Took 18 man-hours to clean up.  Some high-heat paint made it look good as well as seal up the rust.  The plenum was painted orange to give the bay some color lol. Cleaning it up has made it easier to clean after hitting the trails.....ironically.

Dragon Winch, Winches and Sand Ladders

Awesome information Robert.  Now I know what you're referring to regarding sand ladders.  I've been calling them "mud/snow tracks" lol.

Sand ladders?  Are you talking about these? I appreciate the feedback Robert.  I didnt know anything about overland when I got the XTerra, I just molded my truck after seeing certain styles of rigs and I eventually found out that I've inadvertently been building an overlander lol. Next week...

Thanks David! They are brilliant.  I got them from here: http://www.xterraperformance.com/Tactical-Mole-Smittybilt-universal-GEAR-Seat-Covers_p_20.html Dont mind the XTerra site, the seat covers are universal.  They only cover the upper half of the seat.  You pay for two covers.  They come...

04 XTerra Overland Build (and new guy)

Thanks Robert.  A few more mods coming in the mail will set her up the way I'm wanting and I'll be content :grinning: And I found a better picture of how I secure my stuff.  Regular (but very well anchored) hand-tightening straps and ratchet straps is my equipment of choice.

Thank you sir.  I've got a few more things coming in the mail and I'll be good to go until I get new front and rear bumpers.  Front will have winch mount and anchor points, and the rear will offer a swivel arm for my spare tire and I'll relocate my water and gas cans there. I dont have any...

I'm thankful I found this site.  This place is ideal for gaining knowledge and how to continue building my XTerra and hopefully seeing some of you on trails.  Great vehicles here! Here's my 2004 XTerra Overlander build.  Feedback, advice, you're-doing-it-wrong tips, are all welcome.
