I lived in Pinecrest and am well familiar with this area. I'm planning a longer trip here on Eagle Meadows road and beyond, and would appreciate any reconnaissance/ excellent on sights, trails and dispersed camping. I have been to Eagle Meadows in 40 years.

Is the ladder to a rooftop tent? If yes, can't you just reverse the tent 180 degrees?

I really find that the planning and preparation is half the fun. I call it "deer fever."

I tend to carefully plan and rely a lot on past experience from seasoned overlanders and websites like Trails Offroad. Pulling a trailer changes the calculus of what I'm willing to risk and what is reasonably doable.

This was the game changer for me. The grease management system of the Blackstone can't be beat. Scrape all the oil and waste into the detachable trap with the disposable foil liner, spray water on the warm griddle and wipe it down, then cover with a very light coating of oil and you are done...

Totally agree. My Partner Steel stove in my trailer has been relegated to making rice and boiling water. I can cook any meal on my Small Blackstone, and I power it from a separate 5 pound tank. It is a snap to clean and maintain.

I love the speed and simplicity of my CO2 system. I build it out my self with tank and parts from Amazon, but installed the custom Power Tank mount on my driver's side rear roll bar of my JLU so that it takes up only typically unusable space in the rear of the rig. I weight the tank at the end...

Go with someone who has done the trip. There are some challenging, changing obstacles to be negotiated. Weather can be a big factor.

Wish I could have waited a couple of months but didn't know how long it would take the wheels of bureaucracy to turn and needed to be legal for this weekend with GMRS. Glad that they made the fees for this more reasonable.

You can "lock" landscape or portrait orientation from the menu that you access by sweeping down from the right upper corner of the screen.
