I see most people are using HAM instead of CB

I don't get it, what are they laughing about?

    Service Dogs

The last 6 dogs I've had went to a guy that does it for a living. I'm in AZ so the snakes he uses are sidewinder, diamondbacks and mohave rattlesnakes. He has them in a controlled environment of an acre or so and walks your dog towards the snakes that are under stuff, in the open just like the...

Is an overland trailer really worth the expense?

My current trailer has many "jobs". I use it to haul things that won't fit in my Willys or van, it takes all my camping gear perfectly, has a winch I can use to load game by myself during hunting season. As I've mentioned before it's not pretty or fancy but it does everything I need it to do.

First time camping with special needs... share your experiences

How about just going out for 4-5 hours the first few times? Take a couple of chairs bring lunch, take a break half way, sit and enjoy a lunch break in the outdoors then continue on.

    Service Dogs

I've had a service dog for over 25 years now. I've always had a Lab because that's the breed I wanted. They open and close doors, turn lights on and off, pick things up including me once in a while, keep an eye on things, will pull my manual wheelchair, some other stuff and they always go...

    Overlanding with Physical Limitations

Good seeing you again Lance. Like Lance I'm an amputee but it's my right leg and above the knee, it's only been 13 years since I had it cut off. Being an amp does cut down on being able to do some things but I can usually just find a way to suck it up and do it.

trailers navigating technical terrain photo thread

My trailer isn't very pretty or fancy but it's worked just fine for me for 25 years or so and is still a work in progress. I have the same wheels and tires on it as I do on my Willys. That way when I'm pulling my trailer I have 2 spares in the Willys and one on the trailer. As the tires wear...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

I agree with most of what you said but I am curious about what you call "an open chamber". In my time in the military, working with the Feds, or as an instructor I have never heard of that.

    looking for new tires

I live in northern AZ and have a lot of mud/snow/ice to contend with also. I am running Duratracs too and when they pack up a little all I do is throttle up a little and they clean right out. Have you tried that with yours?

Can gmrs and cb share power supply?

Sounds like you're on the way to solving your GMRS/CB problem. One thing I'd like to add is when ever I add a radio to my rig I fuse both the positive AND negative wires to it. It's something I learned from several HAMS and guys that install radio equipment for a living. Since I've done that...

    Ham Radio License

If you're talking to me, I joined both clubs. The "snotty boy" club I just like to sit in the meetings and ask questions and offer suggestions the other club a bunch of us have taken over and made it a friendly place and welcoming to newcomers and visitors.

Do you do all your own build labor?

As a kid I wanted fast cars but even though I had 4 jobs I didn't have much money. So I hung around the gas station I worked at and helped wash parts, pack bearings, did oil changes and grease jobs and learned how to do things. I "worked" at a speed shop for free and in return got advice, help...

Do you do all your own build labor?

So far other than tire mounting I've done all the work on my Willys.

    Ham Radio License

What barriers are you talking about? The main one I've noticed is in the local clubs. One of them is cool and everyone gets along and wants to do fun stuff with radios. The other is mostly older Hams that are "too cool for school" and pretty snobby and hard to get along with.

Help me understand all the different farkles mounted to your dash.

I replace them every 4-7 years as the new ones come out or they wear out from use. Just noticed where you are, got wind Matt? ;)

Help me understand all the different farkles mounted to your dash.

I agree and I don't, I have a couple of compasses and at least 1 GPS with me when I go out.
