Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I think my stock TT is running 32's. I priced the SC and just the parts were cresting $5k, and I sure as hell wouldn't be installing that myself so who knows what the real cost would be, likely easily another $2500 on top of that.
Yeah, I have had to remind myself many times, especially when I first got it that it is NOT a sports car. It moves fine though, but mine is stock. I merge into freeway speed traffic and hit cruise control at 70mph without a whimper. I dragged a Uhaul from CO to CA mostly at 75mph on CC and had...
I find the FJ really more capable than I use it for. It is not mainstream however. By that I mean, things I have considered like a drawer system are seemingly a bit off or not available like they are on the Taco or 4Runner or even the Land Cruiser. I have been told that the market is too small...
For self reliant pack shelter I carry a Wiggys single person bivy shelter. it packs small,, weighs maybe 2.5 lbs and kept me warm and dry. I have used it in lots of remote environments and keep it in the vehicle when traveling just in case. I find it an excellent bit of kit and not too...
This is a great picture. I used to drive an old P38, that I really loved. This is a pic of driving up in 11 mile area off of hwy24 in CO. This guy was just walking up the road, I stopped and he came right on up and stuck his head in the cab. pretty cool.
What time are you planning on leaving Barstow? I will be passing through there at about 1015-1030am traffic dependent... I will likely need to fuel up there.

Also in an FJ. not sure if jeeps have this same problem. I have tried the rain-x, problem is how much I go through in my obsession to not let the splat dry.
I have been using an REI 3 person Dome for about 20 years or so, it looks very similar in looks the 3rd tent in this picture without the fly. It has been all sorts of places with me, and in all sorts of conditions. Rain, Hurricane Hugo residual winds in New Mexico, Alaskan and Pacific NW rain...
This is my first trek of this sort. I plan on leaving Santa Maria @ about 0600 Thursday morning, my brother and I in one vehicle, and heading 166 to 40 into Flagstaff. Wouldn't mind hooking up with some folks along the way or even setting up camp around the OB people.. We know no one so it would...
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum area or already has a thread, but I couldn't find it.
OK, so here is the deal, I hate a dirty windshield, and recently I have moved to an agricultural area where the damn bugs are messing up my view.
What are you folks doing on long drives to keeping your...
This is a great subject for this site and I think that is because most here share similar ideals in terms of exploration, the freedom and liberties we have come with responsibilities, part of that is being safe on so many levels. Never be culled into thinking someone somewhere doesn't want you...
Interesting subject, I have never been a fan of Gortex and despite the hype, my feet get sweaty and then cold. I tend to be in all leather footwear from the office to the field. I tend to use my 8" no insulate, Danners when hunting, they are a bit of a hassle to get on and off, but provide great...
Just found your site, very cool stuff, and am looking forward to discovering overlanding, is that a word? Anyhow... here is my 2013 FJ Cruiser TT, thinking she should get me there and back if I dress her up a tad and treat her nice.
Recently relocated to the central coast of CA where the weather...
