Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I'm a maybe. Gotta get a few things on my schedule ironed out before I'm confident on that weekend. If I am there I'll have my CB as well as some handheld FRS/GMRS two-ways but the range of those handhelds is nothing to write home about. I also rarely leave them on when I'm parked in camp. In...
Wow, cool device but holy smokes is it expensive!
That aside, one thing you didn't mention in the article that I find is the #1 most useful thing about having a portable 12V pack with me is the ability to put the fridge in a bear box overnight. Even the best sealed fridge is a danger in bear...
This sounds fun but sadly a little too short notice for me. Already got something going on that weekend. I'm in next time though! Or if you ever want to run the Georgia Traverse I've been looking for an excuse to head down there.
Folks, there's a subset of the East Tennessee Overlanders group that is planning a Middle Tennessee get together in Nolensville on 4/28 at 11am at Mill Creek Automotive. I won't be back to Nashville in time but thought others might be interested. Details here.

Really great time once again hanging with the Nashville OB crew. Think we got together a solid outline for some fun this year. Stay tuned for details on the next meetup in May. Current plan is an overnight here in Middle TN, hopefully with some basic off-road skills classes.
Can't speak to interference as that often depends on how you have them wired in for power and antenna placement. Keep in mind that each radio you add needs it's own antenna. That can get out of hand quickly.
FWIW I just use one of these for my convoy communications. They work great and having a...
Handheld FRS/GMRS radios are great for convoy communications and nice because when you get out of the rig to spot for someone the radio can come with you. I've got a CB as well but I only use it when I'm at big events. It'll be getting a lot of use when I'm out at EJS in a few weeks. Jeep and...
LBL pro-tip: stay off the 300 levels trails when it's been raining for a week unless you like digging out of the mud. :tongueout:
Shout-out to Maxtrax and my Warn 9500 CTI for handling it like a champ, and Hunter boots for keeping my feet dry.
I'll be there all the way from TN and am interested in the meetup. I do plan on attending the expo and boy scout BBQ that night and not sure if that'll be wrapped up by 18h, but I'll head over when that's done.
I got here a bit early and grabbed a big high top for us. At the big table closest to the door. You'll know you're in the right place because my bright orange truck is right out front.
Land Between The Lakes is close by, allows disperse camping, and you can fish, hunt when in season, etc. Tons of Forest Service roads graded by condition, so you can pick the easy ones. Great place to get started.
Probably worth pointing out, Tennessee and this part of the South in general are...
I've been doing a bit of wandering around the Northeast for the past couple of weeks and am going to be out on the road for another week. If any of you Nashville folks want to follow along, I'm posting my progress on Instagram as I go. Currently up in the Catskills in the ski areas and planning...
I'm definitely in. I had plans to go this past year and an unexpected family visit foiled them. A little bummed it won't be at the Biltmore again but hopefully REEB turns out to be a cool location.
I've been in Nashville 18 years, lived in Bellevue for 3 of them, and my folks now own a house a 20 minute hike from the south end of Cheatham WMA and I've never actually been out there. Would love to go.
In my experience with other WMAs around Tennessee the easiest way to figure out what's up...
