Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
All - I have a 2008 Nissan Xterra, and am working on a strategy for mounting some roof lights. I'd like to add a basket at some point, but its lower on my list. Has anyone on this forum mounted lights on the factory bars that has some ideas or strategy for me? Preferrably with pictures!
Agree with Shizzy. I was skeptical myself, but upon reading up on it, the risks and complexity are minimal so long as they are properly installed and torqued (and re-torqued).
I've given similar thought. And if you add a port where you can pump in compressed air, you'd have a pressurized system. My understanding is that black PVC doesn't heat up as efficiently as aluminum, so it may not work beyond summer. If you end up doing something with this, please let us know!
I agree with Steve. While the idea is intriguing, and it sounds like an awesome device, I would have a hard time with justifying the cost against cheaper alternatives.
What about wheel spacers?
I don't know that you'll get as much contact out of a taller tire, but I imagine there'd be some. Also, what fits in your fender well?
Square? Round? What is the thought with the bladder? If it has a hard outer shell, its not like you'd collapse it to save space. The 3 gallon capacity is intriguing... a nice middle ground.
I am considering this as well for a couple of projects, primarily on my trailer. Good to hear positive things from the team. I'll be sure to put up a post of my own once I get to it.
That must be why they're always mounted to the front. But I kinda like the look of the two smaller cans on the back. Or maybe a skinny can horizontal on the roof?
