Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Update: The Mexican restaurant I mentioned is closed for the season. If you're staying Saturday night, you'll need food! You'll also want something warm!
If you can make it down you're more than welcome to ride along. I have some back seats available, and I'm sure that someone else would be willing to have you ride shotgun!
You'll probably want to avoid most of the DBBB with a rig that size, especially if you don't want any scratches! You would be fine with the Fixer Leeco and Cave Fork areas - it's all gravel roads with plenty of clearance. The overlook in the drone shot is in that area. I can message you the map...
We're a week away, and everything is still set to go. I'll post one more update when I arrive at the campsite on Friday 17th. I'll give my location, and put a picture so you can find me!
Timing:
I'll arrive at the campsite around 6pm on Friday night. If you want to show up on Saturday, plan to...
Send me a message when you're in the area.
Have a meet-up next week, but it's probably too late notice now - https://www.overlandbound.com/event/daniel-boone-backcountry-byway-kentucky/
Dogs are fine. We'll use Callie's as a base for both nights. I can point out several camping spots along the way if anyone wants to stay out on the trails!
You won’t have any problems.
Any high clearance vehicle will be fine - things like stock 4Runners, Grand Cherokees, XTerras, etc. Things like a stock Ford Escape, Honda CRV, Subarus, etc. will make it, but will rub and hit the underside. I’ve watched all three of them do it!
The only damage...

My buddy and I don't mind to lead though - we can take some detours to check out caves and overlooks on the way, and point out alternative routes at obstacles as necessary.
Thanks, that shows the whole loop nicely. I think the best thing to do would be to start at the north side on Spaas Creek (via Nada Tunnel?) then Pumpkin Hollow, and work our way around counter clockwise. We can end the day going off a small detour to an overlook near Cave Fork Road at the south...
I've never traveled with a full sized truck. The only tight spot I can think of is at 5:09 on this video: http://bit.ly/2hasOVX. If you think it's too tight then we can skip that section. We can also check it out. If it's a no-go, then worst that happens is we turn around and come back out.
Rally point created!

On the weekend of November 17th through 19th we'll meet up and complete some or all of the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway in Kentucky.
Meet and greet on Friday night from approximately 7:00pm, rides on Saturday, and maybe some more short rides Saturday night and Sunday morning.
