Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
We are in Las Vegas and camp in all types of temperatures - but mostly hot ones..... We actually use that same Ryobi Fan and love it. It is not very loud in the low setting and the high setting is worth the little extra noise when you need that air to get moving. It is also super nice that we...
We use the classic duel fuel Coleman lantern for while we are cooking along with headlamps. However, we use the Luminoodle Basecamp for our kitchen during after hours. It works great to keep it bright enough to be able to find something or refill a cocktail. It also seems to not attract as...
I use the classic nail type with the green plastic cap. I had an issue for a while with busting the green plastic bit off but after I stopped trying to pull the steak out of the ground by the plastic I stopped breaking them - go figure...
I work on espresso machines that have that same sort of tech in them. Peltier chips will fail in normal temps if their fans get even slightly blocked. Now add 90+ temps and you will have failures for sure. Now, with all of that said I have heard of people adding Ice or Ice packs to supplement...
Figure 8 - follow thru or a double figure 8. I first learned it rock climbing, now I use and teach everybody it! It is easy to tie and easy to un tie no matter what kind of pull/force was put on it. Not to mention, if it is good enough for me falling off of a mountain it is good enough for my...
Hey Vegas People, looking for a good mechanic in Vegas that specializes in Land Crusers. I have a friend that is coming from Utah and hoping on a plane for a couple weeks. Looking to have some stuff fixed up while gone. You have any suggestions?

Kent, has anyone reached out to you on this yet? I’m probably too green in the LV area to head this up but I know we have some great OB veterans on here with good knowledge of the area - also if it’s too late to hit the trails due to the heat.

Ok LV overlanders - it’s looking like we have plenty of old and new faces that we should try and do a meet up at Mormon Wells or something similar. Who is interested?

Ha ha, yup. I was waiting for the new drawtite hitch to show up but couldn’t wait to start the build. I have to say, I love my mini van! I don’t even have any kids!

Cool, I’d say do it then! It’s pretty easy as long as you have a grinder and some drill bits(⅝”) for the pin holes.
Let me know if anything isn’t clear enough on the how to.

Id say the most important thing is to keep your max tongue weight in mind. I believe the max for a Subi is 300 lbs but you should check your manual to confirm.. The weight of my setup is 145 lbs with tire and the mount assembly. I wanted to double check this because I am planning on mounting...
Ha ha, glad you asked.... that is actually currently on my Kia Sedona mini van in the pictures.... However, it will be going onto my Mercedes ML320. Do you have a 1.25” or 2” hitch on your subi now?

The image that I think I attached kinda shows my set up. I was trying to really push it by throwing in an espresso machine. It worked well enough that the next week we met up with some friends while camping and surprised everyone with espressos and lattes on the last day. We also have a...
We love it actually. We got the 3.6 because it actually has a timing chain and not a timing belt. That way we don't have that headache of getting it changed out every 120,000 miles. If you have the chance to drive one of the 6 cylinder models I would absolutely suggest it.
Well, that seems to be a mouthful but I wanted to make sure that it would show up in the search bar for the next guy looking for an inexpensive way to mount your spare tire to your hitch. When I started this endeavor I had looked and looked for a quality hitch mount spare tire holder that...
Awesome! I will be following this one to see what you come up with. We have a 2010 Outback that I think in the next few years will be converted from a daily driver to a camping beast. Good luck!
