  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

    2004 WJ Laredo

That's a clean WJ! Did you post these on your build thread? Sounds like you're off to a good start on the maintenance. Oil wise, I'd recommend the Mobil1 High mile synthetic with a good quality filter like WIX/NAPA or an STP, which is what I used. The diffs aren't too bad to do on stock height...

    Help me spend $1100!

I'd spend my $$ on better shocks, better than Rancho. I run Bilsteins but would go FOX if I wasn't on a tight budget. I'd get a good deflator (I have an ARB), a Viair pump (I have the 400P and it works well), solid recovery points on both ends, a recovery kit (shackles- either soft or regular...

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Run whatcha brung. I don't have a truck anymore. I used the '98 Silverado that is still one of the farm trucks for a while. I loved it! I got into a Jeep for different reasons, but if I stayed in the '98, I'd still be running it. They're very capable. Yes, they're a full size truck, but...

    DIY Breather Extension

I am using 9/16" spring action hose clamps. The ones I initially ordered were too small as the description led me to believe they'd work for 5/16" hose but it was the 5/16" OD instead.

OB Approved Overlanding/Camping with a dog

I added poop bags to the original post! I always keep a spare leash with a slip style collar and some poop bags in my center console. I also keep the collapsible bowl there or in the back with the dogs.

Jerry Can safe for drinking water

there's a handpump mod that can be done and only requires drilling into the cap if I'm not mistaken. Might be a better route to go and you'd avoid the possibility of leaks

    That's a good point.

    Wrangler vs Toyota 4runner

I have a 2004 Jeep WJ (Grand Cherokee) with the 4.7 V8. While I did not know anything about these really before getting into one, I'd say they're a cheap way to get a good Overlanding rig depending on your needs and desires. Yes, it's an older vehicle that more than likely wasn't cared for like...

WK2 18' Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel

Might look into the trim spacers from OME as they're about 3/8" thick. That should easily level things out with the RTT and gear.

OB Approved Overlanding/Camping with a dog

Overland Bound Community, My name is Lucas and I am here to talk about Overlanding/Camping with a dog. While it is an easy decision to bring your 4-legged companion along, there are some things to consider before you do. #1: Is your dog healthy enough for travel and the adventure? I.e. Up to...

    How About the WJs?

I don't think I'll lift it any more, otherwise I'd go a similar route. To be fair, the new spring perches I welded in on the front added 1/4" to the front end lift, essentially leveling it out, and the rear spring isolators I believe are worn. So I didn't do myself any favors by not replacing...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Luckily I have room before I am on the bumpstops. It just rides like hell with the rear is sagging with the added weight. It's almost dangerous on the hwy. I think my issue is more due to the leveling effect I had when I had to replace the spring perches when I did my lift. There was a warning...

    DIY Breather Extension

Let's hope I don't need to service this. I believe I have build this to not need any servicing.

    How About the WJs?

2004 with the 4.7 and QTII sitting on OME HD springs and Bilstein 5100 shocks with IRO extended sway bar end links. IRO high clearance trans crossmember and tcase skid plate (sitting in garage). I have an NP242Hd tcase sitting in my garage to rebuild with a SYE kit. JK 17" wheels with 31" Falken...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

Might look into airbags to assist with the extra weight as well? I go back and forth with the idea of ever using them, but I have heard some work well over others. I personally will probably end up with some sort of spacer to offset the sag in the rear from the added weight when fully loaded...

    DIY Breather Extension

While I waited on the remaining bits to finish up the breather, I mounted up the manifold with the fittings and vents in place to the Kydex mount using 200lb test zip ties. Utilized some rubber washers between the back of the Kydex and the body, as well as used some old rubber tubing on the zip...

What is the last thing you bought and plan to buy?

We use those bags in my home. Mainly for compost or picking up after the dogs. They work well breaking down in the compost pile but I have to be mindful of how long it's sat inside in the indoor compost bucket because it will start to break down after 10 days or so.

    2008 lx 570

2nd on that^^ It's a 200 series Land Cruiser. There is plenty of aftermarket support. @overlanddad on IG has a 200 and does some cool things with it. @stickel has a 200. I can't remember who else might have one. Definitely parts out there for it.
