Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Yeah it truly is a huge upgrade for us so we are very excited. I plan on taking some more this weekend. However here are some I took while measuring cargo space with the third row down to get some new storage boxes. We have been swamped with painting kitchen cabinets and preparing for a baby...
Im coming from a similar situation. I recommend you outline what your goals for the vehicle. What type out pursuits are you looking for? Crawling, overlanding, getting to deep trail heads?
If this will be a daily think about reliability and mpg not to mention size.
Budget of course.
I have always been involved with cars since I was a kid thanks to my dad. However it has mostly been in the fast cars/drag racing side than the off-roading crew.
1970 Datsun 240z
1999 Toyota Tacoma (2wd but wanted 4wd)
1976 Datsun 280z
1977 Datsun 280z
1992 Toyota MR2
1981 Toyota Starlet

That is so true and a reason we upgraded. I already had a hitch cargo carrier and roof cargo box but that was pushing it for us and the big dog. Now with a little one coming we would be sardines if we didn’t upsize.
We currently use our home grill 15 lb propane tank since it is what we have, however as we are transition more to vehicle based travel it is a big tank to lug around. Im considering finding a 10 tank or two. What size tanks do everyone else use?
While the hard sided coolers are big as heck it helps to see it also as a multipurpose item. I use ours as a step ladder and a table. Can also use as a bench. Space savings would be the main reason for me to go to a fridge.
Yeah she has quite the booty. However the use of the space is way better now. We were going to go with a 2020 but the 2021 is just sooo much better in every way and the cost difference is not much all things considered. I cant wait to get going with trips in this. Only downside is the...
Project looks like it is coming along great! You have done some of the upgrades i have been considering for our 11’ forester XT. How has the ride been on the 2 in lift? Do you have factory tires?
It is an option but definitely an expensive one. I think it was 2,000+ more if i remembered correctly. We decided that it was an extra potential fail point albeit super cool. The air tank sits pretty low without a shield plate and it comes with the magnetic shocks so likely no future upgrades...
Pretty much just not enough total space. I fit in the front and back ok, but with everything else its just not really much bigger than our forester. Its just the wife and I plus a large dog. We are planning on one or two little ones in the next few years. I was hoping this might suit our needs...
Dang went and test drove a colorado. Everything is great but its just too small for my needs so ill likely need to go a different route for now. Especially for the price tag.
