  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance this week and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Complacency - The biggest risk to your Safety and Belongings!

This was also a topic of Andrew St. Pierre(4x overlanding), where he touched on this very subject. Especially LAMINATED copied drivers licenses at border crossings to show if needed. I'm not sure how this translates to 1st world/3rd world situations where tourists are concerned. I imagine it...

Go to Baja with looming threat of border shutdown?

Yes it did get warm there, but that is the passion and concern that was evident in this thread, But........it did stay civilized, unlike the You-Tube yahoos, and that says a lot for the type of people who populate OB. I should say that despite the passion shown, both sides of the argument gave...

    Trail Communication

I did not realize that about We-Boost dumbing down their power out-put after buying Wilson. Getting more DB from your booster, is why you bought the booster in the first place. Why spend money if your not seeing much of any benefit.

    Winch battery safety

I had a HD switch installed in the ARB bumper wing, that allowed me to have no current to the winch until the toggle was thrown. So if a bad situation happened, i could cut the currant, without opening the hood or fumbling for a wrench. It also put in place a system to mitigate any battery drain.

    Winch battery safety

When using a winch, has it ever become a runaway, due to an electrical short? Have you done anything to minimize this from happening? As this poses a dangerous and destructive situation to your vehicle, has anyone installed a safety switch? or installed one separate from the battery. First...

    Resolved "Quote"

Since no one has responded, i will. I had the same question but figured it out. In the right bottom of a persons reply or question is the LIKE and the REPLY. The reply will take and paste the persons entire response and allow you to then write your response below it. It made it automatic...

    Emblem

dependent on the speed of the USPS.........this! Remember that Micheal sends these out of California, so those in AZ, will get them days before New York. Another item to contemplate is that most companies follow the UPS ZONE map where the country is divided in sections. These delivery zones...

    Issue with Emblem

When i first received my confirmation, i also thought my number was what was stated. days later i updated my number in the preliminary section filling in my information. I was surprised when i received my badges and i was about 1200 lower than what i thought it had been. It took me some...

    Member pricing in store

I have not seen an answer yet also, and was wondering the same. Not sure if the international member's status is the reason,......Canada and Europe.

    Favorite Trail Meals

This, for breakfast or lunch. i would change up dinner. Something more traditional for camp food offerings. I would leave the steak home as well as veggies like above. When home...great. Steak would have to be sliced/diced into some kind of entree. A can of mixed veggies on the side...

    Dutch/Camp Oven

True, been there, done that, but prefer not too, because of the difficulty of accessing the dutch oven. And because I don't want to burn myself on the lid or contaminate what is in the dutch oven itself.

    REI and Overlanding?

It is not so much the gear they sell, it is as the OP and i mentioned. The intent was that people feel marginalized if they do vehicle camping for one, by some store employees. I have read about customers getting the cold shoulder or at least a look of disapproval, when they mention car...

    Esbit Stove alcohol storage question

I have the Esbit cook set with the alcohol burner. I also have the tiny Esbit solid fuel folding stove unit with extra fuel tabs that can be used with the alcohol version if necessary. That is my emergency stove, and fits in a small metal box....5x8x3 inches.

    Esbit Stove alcohol storage question

If you call companies and ask for them, they must send them or fax them to you under law. Years ago, i got volunteered for that mission, and made for a process of assembling a DATA SAFETY log book of any and everything we might possibly come across and kept ready in the office..

    Little disposable tanks be gone

I like this setup. Seems to be what they use in Africa/Australia, along with many here in the States. That pictured aluminum storage cradle is sweet, but as stated, wickedly expensive ($100-range). Ad in the clamps, and bottle, and Your pushing $300.00

    Cooking Location

The trick is to acquire a couple of prep tables that are 'sturdy',....but not to heavy. Seems simple, but is more challenging than people think. I have used the type that chuch's and meeting halls use, but they are too heavy and too big for all but base camp, and a week long camping trip with a...

    Grilling Options

It all depends on who, how many, how long the trip. I know a fridge/freezer dual zone would open so many new options, and leave the door open to more Fresh Food selections over prepackaged store selections. Just a weekend excursion makes the zip-loc bag prep, easier, as only 3 meals are...

    Dutch/Camp Oven

Glad mine was amicable. I got into cast iron...AFTER we were done and official. Mine were gifted....a dutch oven, a 95 year old skillet from my great grandmother(gifted down), and a resurrected griddle i brought back from the dead,

    Overland Bound Emblems!

Applied the 'white sticker' to my passenger rear door window. It balances the white 'Chevy truck legends' on the left rear window. Plan on the emblems tomorrow. Edit: The emblems are on:tongueout: An Official rig now.
