Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I’m very interested to hear if this route actually has accessible dirt roads or not. I’ve not found any accessible/legal dirt roads in the Bay Area and this would be amazing if it turns out to be legit!
Are you going to try it out? And how did you find that route in the first place?
Hi Kent! I’ve definitely been wanting to go to one of the East Bat meet ups, thanks for the recommendation! The time they happen is a hard one for me, but If there’s ever a meet up a little later in the afternoon I could do it. But I understand why that time probably works for most people.
Sounds like an awesome trip!
I’ve not done this trail personally (but did watch a YouTube video where someone recorded highlights of them doing it), but the Mendocino Backroads Discovery Trail looks like an amazing trail off-road trail through some amazing areas in Northern California. Worth...
I wanted a second opinion on work needing to be done to my rig and Frank/the crew at Top Shop got my rig in and checked out the next day. They showed me what they saw, advised me on what really needed replacing, and gave me a reasonable estimate. And first time meeting another Overland Bound member!
Haha yeah I definitely plan to increase my tire size, although I’m leaning toward going to 35’s (more so because of the cost of the tires compared to 37’s and being able to stick with my current gearing if I go to 35’s). But I agree, the lift needs bigger tires to go with it!
Got my rig back from the shop this afternoon after getting a 3.5” Rough Country suspension lift with 1.5” wheel spacers installed and I’m stoked! Can’t wait to drive it some more and go off-road with it. Top photo is before lift and bottom is after lift.
Dropped my rig (2010 Jeep JKR) off at Overland Motorsports in Martinez Ca today for them to install a Rough Country 3.5” suspension lift. I’m stoked to finally be able to lift it and can’t wait for it to be finished!
Hey there! You might want to create a new thread for your question since this one is specifically about winter camping recommendations in California - and you might not get responses like you could if you created a new thread with your specific question.
…I’m so sorry you and your family have been going through all of that, but I’m also encouraged by how you guys have been trusting the Lord and leaning upon Him throughout all of it and how He’s been with you guys - comforting, encouraging, sustaining. I will be praying for you!
Jason, thanks for sending that link to me - I followed it so I can get updates and better know how to be praying for you, and went back and read some of the previous posts to see how hard this journey with your health has been the last year and a half…
I’m so sorry to hear this is the second time in a year and that it’s inoperable. Praying the treatment is successful in getting rid of the cancer and that Jesus gives you His grace and peace as you go through all of this.
Got to attend the Metalcloak Skillz Day at Prairie City SVRA today! Big thanks to Metalcloak and all the staff and volunteers who put it on and made it happen and shared their knowledge and experience to help out new Jeepers. I learned some things and got to do some wheeling!
