TRAVELS: What animal have you seen increase in number the most?

Out here in San Diego area Coyotes are having a banner year. We have had them enter into yards and approach people in our neighborhood. More rain this year = more rabbit food = more rabbits = more coyotes. Although when they run through the rabbits they look elsewhere and unfortunately it has...

    Small Propane Tanks

Which fire pit do you have? I have the Camp Chef Del Rio. It is too big so I want to retire it to home use only. I need to get a smaller one.

    Small Propane Tanks

I like these 11 lb thin tanks. I can use it on the rack on the back of my jeep where a Jerry can would normally go. Out here in CA you can't have a fire for most of the year but a propane firepit is ok. The pits can burn some propane though.

    Winch options

I have a hand throttle I can use to set my idle speed up to help with winching. The extra idle speed and short pulls between rests helps a lot. This thread has reminded me I still need to add a quick disconnect to mine. I like to keep it disconnected but I sometimes forget. I will add the...

Inreach, which model and what plan?

I have the early version inReach by Delorme. Garmin bought them a few years ago. I have the Freedom plan because it allows me to scale up or scale down my service depending on what I need that month. Each tier runs a little more for that flexibility though. Unlimited texting is available on...

    Help me spend $1100!

Superwinch is my favorite winch. They were recently bought by Westin Automotive. I am hoping they keep up the quality.

Recovery boards and mounts for $65

I am not sure if these are the same boards but they compare them to Maxtrax across a rut later in the video. Maxtrax vs xBull

    Help me spend $1100!

The XRC Gen 1 had problems. Gen 2 is better. I have seen many winches fail. Including Badlands, Warn and Mile Marker (electric). It is good to have a lifetime warranty. Better to have it never fail though. I know Warn and Smitty have lifetime warranties. I am not sure about others.

    Help me spend $1100!

I agree with Old_Man on the Bilsteins. the 5100s have a great ride on and off road. As far as the winch goes, the Warn VR series has moved to offshore production. I believe the M series is still built in the USA. I would go with synthetic line regardless of the winch you go with. For what...

    GAIA device options

If you have a WiFi only iPad you will need an external GPS connected. The WiFi only iPads lack the internal hardware for GPS. (It saved them like $6 LOL) If you have an iPad that has the ability to use cellular it will have the internal hardware so you can use GPS with or without a cellular...

Any way to send GPS coordinates when you have no Cell service?

You can also set up the inReach with several preset messages. Preset messages are free and unlimited on all their plans. Depending on your account settings, your GPS coordinates can be included in the messages you send. I believe you can change the preset messages once a month. I can't...

    Camera bag vs backpack

My biggest problem now is choosing between my camera backpack and my drone backpack. I can mix and match between the two a bit but each is better for their own intended use.

Our Search for the Best Camping Chairs and Tables is Over

I sat in that stargaze chair at REI on and off for an hour. I couldn't make my mind up about it. Of course, if it had been less expensive I might have given it a go anyway. How is it holding up? The design is very different and had me worried a bit about longevity.

    Camera bag vs backpack

I use a Lowe Pro backpack. It is designed so I can swing it around and pull the camera out of the side quickly. Had it for years now. I really like it. I do like the classic look of that Tarian pack though.

ARB 12v Twin Compressor w/ Tank Install 5th Gen

Good install. I have been thinking hard about getting a twin. Not sure if I want to mount in my Jeep or a carry box so I can move it between vehicles. I like the idea of using up space under the hood instead of the cargo area but I don't want to buy two either.

    GAIA device options

Thanks. I never thought about that option. I have my inReach paired to my Pixel 2. I should try it with my non GPS iPad.

Our Search for the Best Camping Chairs and Tables is Over

The Helinox Savanna chair looks very interesting. I will have to drop by REI and give it a go. I have tried the Helinox Chair One though. It wasn't for me. I found REI's Flexlite Macro fit me better. If I am tight on space it is the chair that goes with me. If not I throw a bigger folding...

    GAIA device options

It is possible to run GAiA on a Windows machine if you run an Android emulator such as Blue Stacks Android on PC and Mac - Play Games and Apps - Live Stream I know it runs on the emulator. I do not know about GPS on the laptop though so that would be a big hurdle to overcome. I have a Dual...
