I have had a Noco GB70 jump starter for a couple of years now. I received another GB70 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago so now I have one for my Jeep and my truck. However, last weekend was the first time I went on a trip without jumper cables in my Jeep. After having carried jumper...
Well, you are in the right place for it for sure. Wreck diving is a fun and interesting side sport too. U/W photography is what captured my interest the most.
I did some in my younger years but nothing too extreme. I taught SCUBA and managed a dive shop for many years. Odd, I am somewhat claustrophobic on land but not underwater. It is such an other world. I remember having to take my tank off and swim it in front of me to get through some of the...
Yes, CO2 is liquid. The pressure is usually 750 or so at room temperature. But CO2 expands quickly as it warms up. At 110 the tank pressure can reach up near 2000 psi. However, the real danger with CO2 in the cabin isn't from an explosion. The danger is from O2 displacement. If a CO2 tank...
I used my 19" Outland Firebowl this weekend. Wood fires are banned right now in SoCal. Everybody was impressed with the performance. I was surprised how long a 20lb tank lasted. I wasn't counting, but it was well over 10 hours.
I have several CO2, Nitrogen and SCUBA tanks in my garage, but I don't want the extra weight or the hazard of high psi compressed gas in the interior of my rigs. I know many people love them but they are not for me. I am looking at getting a portable ARB twin right now. I have been using a...
There are a lot of places to visit out there that are accessible in a stock 4x4. You may need to air down as it can be sandy in areas around Fish Creek. Wind caves are close by with a short hike. The Squeeze and Heart Attack hill would require a more built rig but technically those are...
I have a Pioneer AVH 4100NEX in my truck and a newer AVH-4201NEX in my Jeep. Both are double din touch screen units that support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. They work great. There are cheaper models by Pioneer that will work well. I bought the two I have because they have removable...
I carry an ARB kit in my truck and a Boulder Tools kit in my Jeep. Both work well. I added a nice pair of Klein pliers to the kits. It can be difficult to get the @#$% nail or screw out of the tire.
I use a cable style bike lock wound through the wheel and around the carrier. The key is always on my keyring. Sure it can be defeated, but my assumption is most of the thieves looking to steal spares are lazy and are looking for easy targets. Otherwise, they could just work for a living and...
1) Trash... Especially broken glass!
2) Parks or campgrounds that don't allow hammocks. A properly hung hammock will not damage trees. I typically try to avoid campgrounds but sometimes it can't be avoided.
3) People driving off-trail in areas that don't allow it.
4) Burning pallets...
Wow, the only time I have ever had a delay wih my older inReach is when I moved a large distance and first turned it on. Sounds like something is wrong with it. I would definitely give them a call. Keep us updated.
Nice DIY system! Resuing always helps keep that wallet padded. It might be a good idea to make the solar panel removable if it isn't already. It is nice to be able to park in the shade and put the panel in the sun.
