Looks like a good trip. I grew up in Beaumont, parents have a place in big Bear and never did go up there when there was snow on the ground one of my regrets in life
Unfortunately Rams have ball joint issues. They have for years. I sold my 3500 diesel for the tacoma I have now. I loved that ram and wish I still had it some days.
Buy some high dollar ball joints and keep an eye on them. Keep the truck, carry tools lol.
Awesome Kurt thanks for the honest feed back. The tires look like what I'm looking for. Was hoping they would get a good review. Last thing I need is a set of tires like what I have on my 4Runner.
And I agree with what you are saying about the '16. I was wondering if the regear would...
Watched all three. Really enjoyed it. As usual, a great series.
Kurt what were your thoughts on the new tacoma? Power band? Shifting etc.
Also the new grabber tires? I'm looking to get a set here in a few months. Just hope they are good tires for a dd.
Holy crap 3? I saw one posted and started watching but had to quit about 10 min in (stupid responsibilities) I'm going to watch it at work tonight. Didn't know they were posting 3 though. Figured it would be a one a week thing.
So far I like what I've seen
No sir. I've found some importers. One in texas, one on the east and one west coast. They seem to do a lot of skylines, Supras etc. But they get a few cool rigs a year. 4runners, pathfinder, monteros etc.
Any of yall have any experience with late model Toyota turbo diesel rigs? I've had my eye on getting a 2nd Gen Surf (4runner) for a while. I'd like a right hand drive, manual diesel. I've spent a little time with them, but nothing long term or durability wise. I've found a few sources...
A group called oklahoma overland on facespace has been doing a lot on and around the OAT. They just did an overnight on the nw section. Iirc they are doing a weekend panhandle trip this month. Might be worth looking up
I just pulled the trigger on one for a trip in the next couple weeks. Went with a portable Midland 75-882
Nothing special but until I figure out what I want to hard mount in my new truck, it will do for the small hill Texas trip.
What part of Oklahoma are ya in? I'm in sw okc. You should check out overlandguild.com (it's a little slow right now) there are a lot of okies/arkansas-ians (?)/Texans. Couple weeks ago a guy had a group doing the NE section of it. Really the listed site from the OP has a lot of info...
So now I need to figure out if I want a portable one or a hard mounted one. My wife backed out of the trip so we are taking my tacoma. I may bite the bullet and mount one
Yes sir. She's my mistress. Wife hates her. Got her when I was about 10. My dad and I built her. I had to get rid of her for about 13 years due to work (military) but I got the chance to get her back I jumped on it. She's a work in progress to get her back to how she was.
74 H/O big block...
Wife and I took a trip to the far sw corner of Oklahoma. I belive we were 7 miles west of Arkansas and 12 north of Texas. Never knew oklahoma had an area like this. Was a bit warm, but got my wife in a kayak. The river if fed from Broken Bow lake at a balmy 42 deg.
How about yuppie camping photos? Best I've got. My son turns 5 next week. Wants to go camping but it's 100 degrees 95% humidity and forecast rain all week. He also got really bad eczema so the heat doesn't help. So we comprised with this. Got the 14 T4R off road for about 200 yards before...
Wife and kiddo surprised me with some new wheels for the tacoma. They need a more aggressive tire, not sure if I should just get some or wait to lift and get a bigger tire. I like them. They did good[emoji1]
Man you boys and your land cruisers are making me want to pick on up down that road that just got a for sale sign in the window. Good looking rigs guys!!
