Nice! The 2200H is a great rig. I just got a Yeasu FT2800M for the F150, and an older Radio Shack HTX-252 (tiny!) To put in the Escape. Had no time with moving into the new house.....
You rig looks good, and 65w ought to get the job done [emoji41]
My wife and I are planning to attend, though, at this stage of the game, we haven't planned a lot more other than to put in for the vacation time (work likes at least 6-month notice, a year if you can give it to them) and to price out tickets for flights. We are likely to just fly in for the...
Found a couple of images with the Skamper on the F-150. :)
(yeah the tie-downs were just temporary)
What I love about this is the low profile of the camper on the rig. What I don't like is the total loss of cargo space, and that it is 1/2" too long to close the tailgate, and I have to...
I forgot to mention one upgrade the F-150 got earlier this summer, I actually thought I had posted in the thread about it, but I guess not. In late June, we purchased a Skamper 080S camper. This is going to be our living quarters while traveling to some of the more remote areas we are planning...
Well everyone, been a few weeks (ok, maybe months) and project Underdog hasn't made any progress. We bought a new house in early June and everything else has come to a screaming halt until we move at the end of September.
A couple of things have been done to the Escape to get it ready for...
I am going to try and swing by, but maybe "overlanding" in Bowling Green Kentucky in my Vette that weekend.... sigh, so many trips, so little time... :/
Will have to see what state the Overlanding rig is in at that point, and the Vette for that matter.
Hey @Matt_Whitman ... was up on Fall Mountain last week, the trail up there is pretty solid. (Or was, before it rained).
Been busy buying a new house.... but come July/August I am hoping to be down for some Overlanding.
We've probably done the same trails over the years, but I bet we can find...
Well... so far the weather has not been overly helpful in getting either of these projects moving forward. We have done a couple of shakedown runs in the F150, but no mods to either rig, EXCEPT additional swag!
Motivation at the very least!
LOL.... I don't index my son's college papers, your daughter is outta luck! :) I replied to the tread lightly/idiots thread, and I am on that project. I was thinking more along the lines if we wanted to do an overall guidelines PDF for OLB, then it might be helpful.
This is a great thread, and very educational. I have been in the situation where I have come across people trashing the trail ahead, even had to turn around and head back down the trail because I couldn't get my lifted, Jeep with 35's on it through.
One more thing to think about, and add to...
While I am not at mentor level or anything close, I am more than happy to contribute in anyway I can. I have some available time to maybe help organize/index the info, help with formatting.
Just let me know if I can assist [emoji41]

Welcome aboard! You picked a great rig to "stop reading about, start doing" with. Ia m sure you'll find all the help you need here in the forums, plenty of So. Cal. folks who run Land Cruisers (I kinda wish I was one of them!!).
Welcome aboard! Getting out and exploring is the best way to get away from the daily grind, perhaps the only way to keep one's sanity! Look forward to reading about what you and your "unicorn" are up to!
This is from Overland Journal, and I have to say I am interested in seeing them.
